Serious question: why is it bad to lie in cEDH? It’s a competitive game, and in tournaments we’re playing for money. It’s explicitly allowed by the rules, and top players do it all the time. Open to discussion on it.

@Ryan_on_cEDH That’s a reference to all liars that play a game amongst non liars. “Playing for money and all the top players do it” aren’t good enough reasons to do it IMO, when you realize how much of an advantage it is. Do you lie in your games?

@Ryan_on_cEDH If you want to justify yourself as a liar due to being competitive and playing working the rules then there’s no argument to that. You “followed” the rules and got an easy win. Now try winning without lying and post about.

@Martin_Philippe I agree that one liar would have an advantage, but I think it’s because of the social nature of it, rather than cheating which lets you just do whatever you want. Cheaters win more, but that’s because they’re literally not playing the same game.

@Ryan_on_cEDH I disagree, I think on a table where you’re the only one lying, lying has the same advantage as cheating. Now if everyone else lied then there wouldn’t be an advantage anymore. This is the entire reason why it’s frowned upon. As your original posts asked.

@Martin_Philippe I would definitely not compare lying where explicitly allowed by the rules to cheating. Cheating should get you banned for life, the other is playing the game.
