Interesting comparison, but the Australia number looks understated. For $150k gross in 2025-26 (resident, no HECS/HELP debt, standard Medicare levy), reliable calculators (JobSearch, Ultimate Salary Calculator, etc.) put take-home around $110,000–$110,200 annually after income tax ($36.8k) + Medicare ($3k). Not $95k. That puts us closer to NZ/UK levels than dead last. Dubai still wins (zero income tax), but the gap isn’t as brutal as shown. Anyone got the source image/calculator used here? Curious if they included super guarantee or some other deduction weirdly. What’s everyone’s thoughts worth the tax for the lifestyle/services, or packing bags for tax havens? 🇦🇺💸

This is perfect. ICE agent: “If you cared, you would care about the child who got raped and the person who got murdered by the guy we’re looking for. “ Awful, ugly white lady: “I don’t care.” The entire insane national debate encapsulated in 20 sec.

@Fly_Sistah @gtconway3d Looks like he wouldn't comply and violently resisting when they tried to detain him, and from what I can see, it looks like he was trying to grab something from his waist area 😢 its all so sad!

@gtconway3d Alex Jeffrey Pretti was brandishing a phone. They maced him twice & took his phone. His gun was likely holstered & his hands were empty. The federal agent removed the gun & then Alex was shot 10 times. Trump is lying. Alex had a permit for his gun.

The deadly shooting in Minneapolis today was a straight-up execution of a protester by Trump's federal brownshirts. The thugs wrestled him to the ground. They pistol-whipped him, then shot him multiple times. They murdered him. The videos don't lie. A man is dead, killed in cold blood. There is no conceivable justification for this intentional homicide. And make no mistake, that intentional, unjustified homicide was committed on behalf of Donald J. Trump. Trump's militarization of Minneapolis and other parts of our nation isn't about illegal immigration. It's not about enhancing public safety. It's about destroying any sense of that safety—to intimidate political opponents, and to punish dissent. It's about a corrupt, out-of-control regime's effort to provoke citizens in order to justify the violence it desires to commit against them so that it can expand and retain its power. That is fascism. It is tyranny. It is governmental criminality. And the ultimate legal check the Framers of our Constitution provided to stop this kind of tyranny and criminality in the executive branch is impeachment and removal of the executive. Congress needs to do its job. Now. Before it's too late.

When Rhodesia became Zimbabwe in 1980, white people—about 5% of the population—still owned 73.8% of the most fertile agricultural land. In 2000 President Robert Mugabe launched the Fast-Track Land Reform Programme, which involved the violent seizure of white-owned farms by war veterans and supporters. Over 4,500 farms were taken, displacing nearly all white commercial farmers. The immediate effect of the farm seizures was a catastrophic decline in food production. Zimbabwe, once known as the "breadbasket of Africa," went from being a net food exporter to relying on imports and international aid. Maize production fell from 2 million tonnes in 2000 to around 500,000 tonnes in subsequent years. Wheat output dropped from 250,000 to 60,000 tonnes. The agricultural collapse triggered a broader economic crisis: - GDP contracted by 40% over a decade. - Hyperinflation peaked at 500 billion percent in 2008, leading to the abandonment of the Zimbabwean dollar. - Unemployment soared above 80%, and a third of the population became dependent on food aid. - Life expectancy plummeted from 62 to 34 years for women due to malnutrition and collapsed healthcare. Ook ook! 😝
