I needed something that could represent my business even while I was away. So, I decided to build a website. Like many beginners, I started with WordPress and Carrd. They were good, but I constantly found myself saying, “This isn’t exactly what I have in mind.”

Today’s lesson: understanding why code works is more valuable than just making it work. I spent more time learning HTML & CSS fundamentals, fixing layout issues, asking questions, and embracing the process instead of looking for shortcuts.

One week of building taught me more than hours of tutorials. Tutorials introduce concepts. Projects expose your gaps. Debugging builds confidence. Consistency builds skill.

The funny thing is, learning web development never took me away from photography. It made me appreciate it even more. Photography taught me how to capture attention through visuals. Web development taught me how to keep that attention through functionality and user experience

Every limitation reminded me that I wanted more than templates I wanted complete creative freedom. That curiosity led me to HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. One tutorial became another. One project became many.

In fact, all I wanted was a website for my photography business. As a photographer, I realized there was a gap between me and my clients. Whenever I wasn’t online, there was no place they could easily learn about my services, view my portfolio, or reach out to me. 👇👇
