I think it's pretty disgraceful that Matt Taibbi is suing one of his critics. Even if you disagree with Eoin's book's conclusion that Taibbi has sold out, it should be legal to make that criticism and Taibbi should respond by rebutting the claim not running to the courts.

New look at the Cyclops in Christopher Nolanʼs ‘THE ODYSSEY.’ In theaters July 17.

It’s Marx’ birthday today. Here’s my biggest realisation about him: Marx’s main foe was NOT capitalism; it was individualism. Already from his young Hegelian days, Marx was convinced than man has to live (i.e PRODUCE) for the group. It’s what he later described as ‘species being’. He then, brilliantly, identified that capitalism and individualism MUST go hand in hand. THIS is why he hated capitalism. Everything else (LTV etc) was a rationalisation. This is why ‘On the Jewish Question’ is key. Not because of the antisemitism controversy. But because of the capitalism<—>individualism formulation. That’s why Marx damns individual (‘civil’) rights, and, ESPECIALLY, property rights. Because they create this protective bubble, inside which the ‘egoistic’ man can flourish, and thus they are bad. From there, Marx will jump on different vehicles to attack capitalism. For one period it’s ‘alienation’, for another it’s his ‘exploitation theory’, the 'falling rate of profit' etc. All are rationalisations for a conclusion he had drawn from his early Hegelian youth: capitalism = individualism = bad. PS: funny how Marx saw what conservatives and many liberals/libertarians decline to see, i.e. that capitalism and individualism will either stand, or fall, together. In that way, he’s a better thinker than many on our side. In other words: to attack Marxism, one HAS to defend individualism.

Bangor Daily News noted in 2002 that Graham Platner was kicked out of a Bush rally in Bangor for protesting the forthcoming Iraq War by yelling, "Don't attack Iraq," as he thanked grassroots activists. Found that moment during Bush's speech where you can audibly hear it.

Whats with people not liking/respecting Slipknot and Korn anymore? I grew up on that stuff and they paved a way for so many modern bands. I know so many people who openly talk shit about them. Its just crazy to me.
