We agree with @MdPublicSchools that “Learning to read is foundational to success in school and life” and that “being able to read by third grade is an essential gateway for future success in school and in life.” MD kids struggle to read by 3rd grade. MSDE has a plan for change.

Our second series of READ Strong meetings is complete! Meetings were held this fall in Baltimore City, Montgomery County, and Queen Anne's County. Leaders from educational and community organizations came together to discuss how we can help cultivate thriving reading ecosystems.
