@simonbwilson @DamienVenuto @nzherald There are not so very many people available to lead the changes necessary to achieve a greener, fairer society via complex government organisations. I doubt we can replace Rob Campbell in time to drive appreciable improvements in health service delivery by October ‘23.

Who gets the job when a public servant who speaks their mind is sacked? So only 1/4 Akl villas & bungalows could be rezoned for potential development and the best keep their "special" protection. Very hard to see why anyone should panic about this. nzherald.co.nz/nz/auckland-co…

THABulous housing win: Auckland Council revealed yesterday that they're going to be changing apartment rules to enable 6 story Perimeter Block Housing near transit - where buildings are close together and built towards the street, leaving a large greenspace internal to the block.

Mixed article 🙄 but as a bus user I agree AT’s top floor should lose their car parks. Nothing like taking the PT pledge in Tāmaki to sharpen an appreciation for mundane infrastructure like useful bus routes…and bus shelters 💧⛈☔️🌦💧☔️⛈ nzherald.co.nz/business/andre…

Horrifying story of how a church becomes a centre of exploitation. Absolutely appalling.

@jessicarose_LTF Cut sponge in half, spread generously with raspberry jam - into bowl. Sprinkle with favourite sweetish liquor (eg sherry, port, cointreau) then treble the quantity. Add tinned fruit (drained) eg black doris plums (stoned). Cover with a thick layer of custard then whipped cream.

@simonbwilson @nzherald @simonbwilson One correction: Yes, one Auckland Council politician, I was there for both days, City Vision Albert Eden local board member. It cost lots of my budget for PD but worth it, reinforcing optimism and determination. I wish more political colleagues were there too.

The climate crisis is climbing up the agenda of every conference and public body mtg I go to these days, and most reports I read too. But who's going far and fast enough? ICYMI my premium feature from @nzherald yesterday, part 2 of my Why I'm Afraid series nzherald.co.nz/nz/simon-wilso…

Homestar is a rating tool to measure the health, warmth + sustainability of NZ homes. 10+ yrs ago I led the tech team to build it, raised the $$ to launch it + roped in AltGroup to create a brand for it. As of today all public Kāinga Ora housing will be built to Homestar6.

Politicians have been dithering & delaying on #climatechange action for 30 yrs. The @NZGreens are making huge progress in Govt with the Zero Carbon Bill and many other climate action measures, but we know there’s so much more to do. We will continue to push for more, and faster.

Greens are doing such a good job working in coalition and making it clear they need their mandate to increase in 2020 election to get faster action 💚💚💚

Next time someone tells you how much cheaper it is to deregulate - just say this FORTY SEVEN BILLION DOLLARS. That's the cost of deregulating the building industry resulting in leaky houses stuff.co.nz/business/11623…

@simonbwilson @publicaddress B Orsman’s article reports Mark Thomas’s version of events. Do these reconcile with rules requiring your home to be in an electorate to get on the roll? According to MT an almost empty shop with no bathroom, rented short term. ‘Home’?

@publicaddress To be fair, MT didn't acknowledge it was true, but he didn't deny it and said it was "complicated". Not quite the same.

In this story, Simon puts it to Mark Thomas that his story about living in an empty shop (so he could claim to be an Albert-Eden resident) isn't true. Thomas acknowledges it isn't true. Bernard Orsman wrote a whole, sympathetic news report on it, apparently without asking that.

Why are we trialling e-scooters on footpaths instead of trialling bike/scooter lanes on Queen St and other parts of city? Doesn't anyone understand the future yet? Just filed my column for @nzherald tomorrow.
