@ta_mills It's unfixable. Anyone who has tried getting a serious complaint through the Editorial Complaints Unit knows the BBC is fundamentally unsalvageable. No one is ever held to account for the worst abuses, unless a rich person threatens to sue.

The relevant question is not: How good or bad is the 'content' the BBC produces? It is: How amendable to change are the structures of the BBC which lead to the bad outputs?

A lot of people feel profoundly disillusioned & angry with the BBC over its awful reporting on Gaza - & a myriad of other things. They are simply switching off & couldn't care less about the BBC's fate. I totally get it. But this is bad politics.🧵

Yes. Starmer does think every single other person is that stupid.

bbc.co.uk/news/articles/… Bullshit. Starmer has something of a lifelong career habit of not being told things, never having the curiosity to check himself, and then his cultists talk about how he's always on top of the details.

If Starmer does not resign now, he'd have to be forced to. Except that in the UK, a PM being 'forced' to resign requires their cooperation, even losing a confidence vote (Cameron lost one, on foreign policy, and didn't resign; the media didn't even point it out)

The prime minister that Starmer most resembles is Boris Johnson, and that was always the case when looking at the facts rather than narratives. Standards in public life would have improved immeasurably otherwise. First thing he did was get rid of Sue Gray, to stop that.
(((Dan Hodges)))@DPJHodges

Starmer forced through Mandelson's appointment despite the fact he'd been red flagged by the security services. He then lied to the House about it. He then tried to cover up publication of the documents that would have exposed the lies. If that isn't a resigning matter, what is.

theguardian.com/politics/2026/… This is only being revealed after a newspaper investigation. The government did not need any inquiry, they knew, and could have been transparent about this the day Mandelson was sacked. Instead they insisted 'new info'(still unspecified) came to light.

@SkyNews kept comments closed for their segment posted to Youtube on why care leavers die as young as they do. There's no legal reason for it. They know who their target audience is and how awful they are.

I didn't hear Robertson talk about it, I didn't see the media asking it, or any other Number One Priority issue that could come up during a war to defend Britain. It's like they weren't really serious and simply wanted spending to go up: they all wanted it.

In addition to all the other things I've posted about: the UK is still not prepared for another pandemic, even with the previous one still ongoing and that came after a 2018 exercise that found the UK was unprepared for one. What if it happens during war?

The UK media front and centred a lobbyist for the war industry this week, and couldn't be bothered asking the mildest of critical questions, like the huge gaps in concern for actual problems that would emerge during a real full-scale war.

@SaulStaniforth If they had wanted to, they could have got Care in the Community over and done with by 1980, and costs of updating to 'humane standards' were rising, but the welfare state was the largest change to the country since the poor-laws, and inherited Victorian insane asylums full. 100s

Maguire: "Overall benefit spending as a share of the national economy is about where it was 10yrs ago. The fact [Robertson] has gone for benefits shows it as a highly political attack" And not only is it about the same as 10yrs ago, we spend less than most European countries
