This week, the israeli public went to the polls for the fifth time in three years. Every election has winners and losers. This cycle, we can all see that pluralistic Judaism suffered a painful blow.

(5) Of course, we hoped for (and, to some extent during the previous coalition, enjoyed) political legitimacy and even governmental cooperation. But the step backwards in the political sphere does not necessarily reflect the public sphere.

(4) On days like these, we must remind ourselves that the pluralistic revolution within Israel began not from politics, but from the grassroots. The Masorti Movement, like other movements, began operating within society because people wanted it and demanded it.

(3) Orthodox and ultra-Orthodox parties seeking to limit the progress of liberal movements gained power and are poised to become members of the incoming coalition government.
