#TechRescue Tuesday: The Fire Academy recently delivered its Rope Rescue Operational Level course in Agawam and Springfield. Students learned the basics of staying safe while rescuing patients from high-and low-angle environments. Thank you to our instructors and support staff!

On 7/13/96, @FireHolyoke Firefighter Arthur Petit made the ultimate sacrifice while searching for occupants at a fire in a multifamily home. The Mass Fire Academy honors his legacy with a street sign on its Springfield campus, and we recognize the loss to his family & department.

One year ago today, Massachusetts' deadliest fire in decades claimed 10 lives at the Gabriel House assisted living facility. But for the heroic actions of @FallRiverFire, the tragedy would have been even greater. Spare a moment and a prayer for the families and first responders.

Members of the DFS Code Compliance & Enforcement Unit have conducted more than 110 fireworks displays since June 20, crisscrossing the Commonwealth to ensure that permitted displays are safe for shooters and spectators alike. Great work in brutal weather!

.@MassStatePolice fire investigators assigned to @MassFireMarshal supported #GardnerMA FD and District 8 FIU last week at a two-alarm fire that injured one occupant. The fire does not appear suspicious, and investigators are looking at candles/incense as potential factors.

We were devastated to learn that @fitchburgfirema Deputy Chief PJ Roy passed away. PJ was a passionate advocate for firefighter cancer prevention through the Fire Academy, and he was honored in 2019 for his immense contributions to this cause. Our hearts are with his loved ones.
