The main thing that sticks out though--and I was posting about this on Bluesky--is how the theatrical cut (which is ostensibly Mel's cut) removes the scene where Porter beats the shit out of his wife. Mel Gibson then went on to beat his actual wife in real life. What an asshole!

Doing a comparative viewing of Payback (1999) and the Payback: Straight Up (2006), which is the director's original cut. I watched the theatrical cut many, many times. Never realized just how different the DC/original cut actually was. It's a stark contrast.

The "best" thing you can probably say about the TSA is that they helped some defense contracting corporation stocks go up a bit by providing the Rapescan machines and whatever the other one is called.

There are probably a few Federal functionaries left who are worthy of some sympathy for the plight that our failing government has put them into, but I strongly suspect that most of them were jettisoned by the DOGE operation. And even before that, none of them will be in the TSA.

The jobs at nursing homes that _might_ pay well are mainly in administration. But the people mopping up shit trails and changing diapers? They're making shit-all. And the job is not without significant risks since it places you at the mercy of demented lunatics.
