The National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley will be conducting a **REQUIRED TORNADO WARNING DRILL/TEST** at 10am CDT/9am MDT 03/25 Wednesday, as part of Nebraska & Iowa's Severe Weather Awareness Week, ranging from March 23rd to the 27th, 2026. THIS IS ONLY A DRILL, AND NO SEVERE WEATHER THREAT WILL BE PRESENT. Local officials may also sound the tornado sirens. ONCE AGAIN, NO SEVERE WEATHER THREAT WILL BE PRESENT. This test will likely replace the Required Weekly Test scheduled at 11:15am every Wednesday. This test SHOULD NOT activate the WEA on cellphones but will activate all weather radios. Persons should practice what they would do if a Tornado Warning is issued for their area. If a Tornado Warning is issued for your area, the best option will be to SEEK SHELTER IMMEDIATELY, preferably on the lowest floor in a sturdy building, away from windows. Keep as many walls as you can between you and the outside world. Stay tuned to local television outlets, NOAA weather radios and/or social media, and do NOT venture outside until an "All Clear" is given by local officials/NWS. If you are not able to seek shelter, and if you are caught outdoors, the best option would be to either get inside a vehicle or building as soon as possible. If that is absolutely not possible, the last option is to find a low-lying ditch, duck and cover your head and neck. The first and second picture are the cold front, while the third and fourth photos is a storm that we were chasing for quite awhile, but didn’t really do much. Unfortunately, I won't be able to cover much of today's event due to the fact that I will actually be storm chasing down either in Kansas or Oklahoma. Today's event has uncertainties, due to the widespread convection from this morning, but shouldn't really have a negative impact on this afternoon-evenings storms. Large hail (up to golf ball size), damaging winds (up to 70mph) and a few tornadoes (EF2 or greater strength possible) are becoming increasingly likely, especially in southeastern NE. Please have other multiple ways to receive weather warnings and be prepared to seek shelter if a Tornado Warning is issued for your location (or in my case -- chase them!) *Sounding is from far southeastern NE at around the time of CI. #newx #iawx #wxtwitter
