I'm a very repressed Cuddle Bug. And I'm tired of saying NOTHING about it.
This is something I've been thinking about talking about for the last...couple of weeks, I want to say? Well before somebody posted something similar and shorter (I'll link to it in a Reply and call the person to let him reply), though I do have to provide my own 2 cents because the subject is inevitably involving its complexities.
What I figure to be the best starting point is an argument by people that women have been treated like cheap trophies and yes, that indeed is a fair point. We guys should have better understanding of WHY we get interested in the other gender to begin with, beyond simple involvement of necessity or hype. Though I will say that even in the context of certain...material, shall we say, there's a clear stand-out appeal to being a sort of security blanket to lovely ladies. And it's not even only in interest of getting as much back, although that would be welcome, but being able to provide things like back-rubs would be a nice touch.
Of course, the Call Him George trope is a thing, and people can say that Elmyra Duff's actions, resulting in the trope's page image, are practically an exaggeration because Tiny Toon Adventures is still an American cartoon, but when there's notions like Death By Childbirth, the CHG trope can be argued to be, if anything, underexaggerated, certainly in spirit.
Even then, I stand by what I said at the start of this, from 4 1/2 years ago (and actually before Mekkah's video about Mangs):

I can further point out that I was saying this at the start of a video that would inevitably involve a case of That One Boss, a case that both proved learnable in how to defeat damage-less, AND was retroactively ruined by Metroid: Other M involving the player being forced to style on said boss by Samus, nonsensibly, not self-Authorizing the Gravity "Feature" against the boss (for the first fight at least). The boss in question, Nightmare from Metroid Fusion, was a chance for me to reproach the world within material they'd have enough reason to care about. And I remarked, through my not-so-subtle sarcasm, that women are so adverse to hugs, back-rubs, and blanket covering, but are perfectly fine with being pushed around, forced into labor that makes them vomit, and demeaned as property by people like Mangs of the Fire Emblem and Advance Wars communities.
It's true: I know of such a world. I live in it, to see how it sucks as it stands. And I am personally not happy when I have to hold back with affection all the damn time, yet there's little I can do, especially in an anti-affection state like California.
It's especially fair to call out the double standards, which I pointed out above. People like Magnus "Mangs" Hestveen would NEVER have been popular without them, because their chauvinism has been obvious from day one. Anybody who wishes to tell me otherwise should realize I was including this little snippet on a comment for a place I had once gone to, the comment made on 10/18/2019 before seeing a given Genki Girl having been overworked into lifelessness:
"I haven't forgotten when a past client who already had shown signs of being a shameless philanderer basically called the local Genki Girl a brain-dead idiot behind her back."
I stand by comments like that, because the behavior I describe is guys like the past client treating women as outright disposable girl pleasure objects. For my part, even when I had been a client at the place, I've been for the Genki Girl proving she isn't the idiot people think she is. Even though I admittedly do have doubts about the general gesture now, the whole point would have been to make clearer the worth of an individual, especially with somebody who isn't simply some Statuesque Stunner, or some random hula girl, or what have you.
But people like Mangs, as well as their supporters, don't understand, and they don't care to. That's where I have every right to denounce them, because they don't want to provide affection. They just want to have dominance. They would show otherwise both in the relationships AND in how they work with the system. They only want women to be cheap trends. I don't, because I would rather the "random hula girl" show why I would choose her specifically. Even if she should still pull her own weight in that regard, at least that way I can remember about the individual better.
The problem is when women want to choose to support scum like Mangs repeatedly, and it's how he even has a wife. There's no excuse for that. What I have witnessed of Mangs' wife is that she's a sadist, so Toxic Friend Influence is in play as well. What is still worth calling out, is that people have been claiming that Mangs is funny. Is that why I personally get passed over? Because I'm "not funny"? I will grant that I'm not always in humor mode, nor am I by default, but it's not like I am short on my share of moments:
-Saying "he will trouble us no more" about recurring bosses
-Remarks like how Ganon's Tower is a place where Pac-Man's mere presence would evoke a certain response from Ganon without need for accommodation by Light Yagami or a lamp
-Snark in general
-Shocked "how does that work" asking in response to particularly nonsensical things
-Mentioning how armor or healing will help with reducing/healing off the 0 damage that will be taken in a No Damage Run (wait, what?)
-Things like being an announcer for something like the Clown Prix in Pac-Man World 1 Re-Pac
-Self-depricating humor...now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to use the Spin Shot with Ancient Staff to say "Take that, Skyscraper Club!"...wait, what?
I can say that people, especially women, miss out because they don't want to give me a chance. And it's just....take one good look at the origin of my username. Or take a look at my real first name. And to be sure, too much stock in names is an excuse for Magnus "Mangs" Hestveen to hide behind his undeserved power via his first name. This doesn't change that I'd have even further reason to support somebody who bets on me instead of some random leech.
I wouldn't even be mindful of doing a few tasks here and there for a friend. If anything, if I had a wife, it's a guarantee she'd be somebody deserving of her marriage, ESPECIALLY if she's providing creativity with how to work within the contract, especially if the results improve quality of life. That's honestly my frustration, that women don't want to try. Do they think I could want unhealthy control? Because if I'm even needing to have unhealthy control for a marriage, then it's not worth it in the least. It's why I don't need to find using a Chess analogy to be an egotistical idea, as I realize now by the way, to be irked by the notion, when calling a girl the Queen is going to feel manipulative, and for what? Something women aren't going to be sure of, when people like Mangs exist? But they don't care. To them, EVERY GUY is like Mangs.
This is where I'm speaking out. Things never get better. And women claim they get scared, but even when they are, why don't they ever realize that they would not be the only ones who are scared?
