@Aesthxticz_ correct, arm64e support is still limited to up to 16.5(.1) as of right now this is *expected* to increase to 17.3.1 at some point in the future

(I love when stuff releases while I’m at work) Notes: - Dopamine 2.5b3 (just like 2.5b1/2.5b2) is a beta, and there may be issues that don’t occur on the latest proper release (2.4.9) - The DarkSword kexploit is known to not work on iPads with 2GB of RAM on 16+ (iPad 5th Generation, iPad 6th Generation, and iPad Pro 9.7”), this also means 16.7+ support remains unavailable for these iPads. - 15.8.7/15.8.8 are still not supported on A8(X) iPads

Late follow-up to the follow-up from earlier: - palera1n works on arm64 devices on all new releases - Dopamine (2.5 betas) should work on supported devices on 16.7.16, but an update is needed to bump version - Dopamine (2.5b2, supported devices) and TrollStore work on 15.8.8

Note that Dopamine/TrollStore hasn't been tested yet for 15/16 (though probably works), same is true for palera1n on 15-17

regardless of whether or not it works, reply to the above post with: - the device you tested (e.g. iPhone 6S) - the iOS version (e.g, iOS 15.6.1) - whether or not it worked

@GamesCage_ worth noting that outside of Japan they’re expected to take effect on September 1st - so there’s seemingly a 4 month (roughly) heads up before this price increase goes into effect

counterpoint: while arguably not a downgrade per-say, the iPhone 14 was given basically a significantly smaller upgrade than normal (and compared to the iPhone 13 was hardly an upgrade in general) You could argue that this was a relative "downgrade" to the base model iPhone (in terms of how it got iterated), and thus the idea of "downgrading the base 18 from the 17" would not be the most surprising thing ever. (Also, they have done "downgrades" (to a lesser extent obviously) within the past 10 years - e.g. M2 Mac 256GB storage stuff, battery capacities in iPhones through various generations, eSIM only *without any benefit* in the iPhone 14-16 series, M4 iPad Pro losing mmWave vs M2 iPad Pro, etc.)

I still don’t believe the rumors about Apple downgrading the base iPhone 18 I see this go 2 ways: 1. The iPhone 18 and 18e will share a lot of components like the chassis, speakers, logic board, battery. With the only difference being better cameras and display on the 18, but the iPhone 18 barely gets any upgrades over the 17 reusing or manufacturing the same component for different products has long been a strategy under Tim Cook to save costs in the long run. 2. There is no iPhone 18 and Apple turns the iPhone Air into the new base model iPhone with a higher starting price, could be their way to eventually kill the numbering scheme for iPhones and refer to the lineup as the iPhone Neo, iPhone Air, iPhone Pro and iPhone Ultra Apple atleast for the last 10 years hasn’t really downgraded a product compared to its previous generation

@SavePointMusic Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Analytics & Improvements -> Analytics Data from there, the latest ’panic-full’ log (which would be the one closest to the bottom that starts with it) is what you would want to share (use something like Google Drive or some other file service)

@MasterMike88 Sure. Though do you happen to know where the logs are stored? I can’t find them and google isn’t being helpful /:

To anyone with an iPad 6th Generation on 16.x (preferably 16.7.x, but 16.x might be good too): Does the DarkSword kernel exploit in Dopamine 2.5b2 work for you? There are some signs that the issue affecting the 9.7" iPad Pro and iPad 5th Generation may also affect the iPad 6th Generation.

@MasterMike88 I have a 6th gen running iOS 16.7.2 and it doesn’t work. It’s seems like it tries to show the dopamine boot screen for a split second, and then just crashes and reboots to normal iOS.

@rumpleforeskin For what it's worth, the way the DNS profile works is it just directs domains like mesu.apple.com (and some others) to a domain that doesn't exist and won't ever exist (e.g. hi.frcoal)

@MasterMike88 Also to be clear, sometimes the profile works as intended and I don’t even see “checking for updates”. Sometimes it hangs here indefinitely, with the update never being found

If you are using tvOS beta profiles, take notice of this post. As people know, the generally recommended method for blocking updates has been the tvOS beta profiles, which has had the benefits of being easily removable, not being persistent with a backup, among other benefits. However, this era of tvOS beta profiles for blocking update ends next month. The current tvOS beta profile actually expires on May 1st, 2026, and not on January 31st, 2027 like initially thought. There is luckily a new non-expiring DNS profile (thanks to @mineekdev) at kittymaxine.com/blockota.mobil…. However, while this new solution shares many of the same benefits as the tvOS profile (as well as some of the same primary benefits such as not being persistent across backups/updates and being easily removable), there are differences and downsides to this approach: - As this profile is a DNS profile, it only works on iOS/iPadOS 14 or later - if you're on iOS/iPadOS 13.x or lower, you'll need to settle with an option like OTADisabler (which can persist between certain types of updates, can be made difficult to remove if you can't jailbreak, etc.) - Additionally, it also applies this updating blocking to your paired Apple Watch(es), which depending on your circumstances can be a good thing or a bad thing - This profile cannot be directly installed to an Apple Watch, so as it stands it will become impossible to block updates on only the Apple Watch once the tvOS profiles expire - The way the DNS profile works is by being a sinkhole for the OTA-related URL's

@rumpleforeskin Nugget works by disabling the daemon - it's an option, but the issue is if you ever want to update, depending on a variety of circumstances it can potentially be problematic

@OpenFlakkee The only domains this touches are a handful of domains only used in the Software Update pane from Apple - the DNS profile has absolutely zero impact on reaching Meta websites. (though, as a general word of advice, you might be better off without those platforms in general)
