Only complete independence from the crazy imperialistic #Moscovia, and therefore the restoration of an independent Pskov Republic, will give Pskov a chance not to be an arena of war, but to become part of a future without an #Russia empire: after all, another #Moscow aggression against the #Baltic countries🇪🇪🇱🇹🇱🇻 is only a matter of time, and since the Pskov region is one of the most militarized regions of the so-called "#RF"🤮, saturated with military bases, during an attack on #NATO, Pskov will become not just a foothold, but a key staging area for insane #Russian militarism💯 But #Pskov is the gateway to the #EU🇪🇺, the border with #Estonia is not just a line on a map, but a metaphysical fissure between two worlds: between the degrading Soviet-Russian🤡 swamp and the space of rational existence, - and Pskov is post-Russian border nation in embryo, or rather, reincarnation🎯 And where there were fortress cities, city-states (#PskovRepublic) will arise again - Make Pskov Great Again💪 #MakeMoscoviaSmallAgain ✌️ #PostRussia #MoscoviaDelendaEst 🔥

As a reminder, this is exactly the kind of pressure that broke the camel’s back with Ukraine. In 2013, then-President Yanukovych (who had wanted to play the traditional “both sides” game between the EU and Russia) was forced to make a decision: his government needed money, and Putin offered cash. The catch was that Ukraine had to reject the trade agreement with the EU, which had been painstakingly negotiated and which Yanukovych had promised to sign, in favor of joining Russia’s Customs Union. He did exactly that, which provoked Maidan. Yanukovych, with Kremlin prodding, tried to suppress the protests with violence. That backfired, sparking mass demonstrations across the country. It ended with his flight to Russia, Putin’s annexation of Crimea, and the beginning of the current war. Armenia is in a much tougher spot with this ultimatum. It is too small and vulnerable to stand firm the way Ukraine did. In its rough neighborhood with both Turkey and Azerbaijan eyeing parts of its territory, Russia has long been its traditional protector. It’s unclear to me how much real help the Europeans can offer (beyond using their influence with Turkey and Azerbaijan).
Tymofiy Mylovanov@Mylovanov

Russia declares ultimatum to Armenia. Putin [to Armenian PM]: You can’t trade with both EU and EEU. You have to choose. In the last few years, Armenia started exporting to EU 10 times more goods. We are fine with that. It’s your choice, who you will trade with. 1/

Some say, Zelensky is being entitled. He is not. Ukraine's security is Europe's security and Europe's security is Ukraine's security. We have a duty and obligation to defend Ukraine as well as to prevent a resurgent Russian Empire. We are, in essence, defending one of our own — just as we do in Greenland, just as we do when Europeans are in need during floods or forest fires. Would anyone call a city suffering from flooding entitled for asking for help from the central government? For pointing out it's insufficient? Would we tell that city: Please, say thank you first? Does Zelensky just want the best for Ukraine? For sure. Is Zelensky's primary concern the survival of his own country? For sure. But his concerns are our concerns, saving Ukraine is not only just and the right thing to do—it means saving Europe. He appeals to us to come to our senses—not only for his sake, but for our own sake.
KyivPost@KyivPost

Key statements by President Volodymyr Zelensky during his speech in Davos: “Just last year, here in Davos, I ended my speech with the words: ‘Europe must know how to defend itself.’ A year has passed, and nothing has changed.” “Everyone has focused on Greenland. Most leaders do not know what to do about it. It seems everyone is simply waiting for the US to cool off on this issue, hoping it will disappear. But what if that does not happen — what then?” “A tribunal on Russia, announced back in the summer of 2025, has still not been created. Not even a building has been allocated for it. Maduro is being tried in New York, but Putin, excuse me, is not?” “Russian oil is being transported along Europe’s shores, and that oil is financing the war against Ukraine. This directly contributes to the destabilization of Europe. Russian oil must be stopped, confiscated, and sold for Europe’s benefit. Why not?” “Today, Europe relies mainly on faith — faith that NATO will act in the event of danger. But no one has ever seen the Alliance tested at full strength. If Putin decides to seize Lithuania or strike Poland, who will respond?” “Europe must learn how to defend itself. Sending 14 or even 40 soldiers to Greenland — what is that supposed to achieve? What signal does that send to Putin? To China? And perhaps most importantly, what signal does it send to Denmark?” “Belarus in 2020 is the clearest example. No one helped its people. And now Russian ‘Oreshnik’ missiles are stationed in Belarus, with a range that reaches most European capitals. This would not have happened if the Belarusian people had prevailed in 2020.” “Wouldn’t it be cheaper and simpler to just cut Russia off from the components needed to produce missiles, or even to destroy the factories that manufacture them?” “Documents aimed at ending Russia’s war against Ukraine are almost ready. Tomorrow a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia is expected to take place in the United Arab Emirates.”

Different periods of European history were defined by different countries. The 15th century by Spain. The 16th century by Italy. The 17th, 18th century by France and many more. It's clear which European country will define the 21st century. Ukraine. With the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the 21st century began. The end of the old order, massive destabilisation of the world, more and more wars, rearmament, the rise of China, the energy transition intensifying - all of it intensified in 2022. And Ukraine is one of the main characters of the new century. Through its heroic effort in defending itself and its sovereignty, it has changed Europe. It has changed the world. It has shown what is necessary to prevail in a world with no rules and no order. It has brought Europe together, accelerated our path to federation and has shown us that there are still things worth fighting for. The eurofederalist movement would never be as strong without it. Ukraine, to resist, had to grow and adapt, grow beyond its means. It is now a leading producer of drones. It is the world's primary expert on the defence during drone warfare; the gulf countries are now begging for Ukrainian technology and expertise. Ukrainian advisors and drones have brought down Russian ally Assad. It's Ukrainian advisors that are holding Russia back even in the Sahel. Ukraine now produces the majority of its weapons. Ukraine survives, even as America has stopped supporting it. Yes, Ukraine needs Europe. To survive, to defend itself, to exist. But perhaps even more so, Europe needs Ukraine. Europe needs Ukraine's bravery and spirit. Europe needs its expertise and technology. Europe needs what it stands for... the strength and will to defend one's civilisation. No, Ukraine is not perfect. But it has a certain spark that the rest of the world does not have. The European spark of brilliance, rediscovered in the darkest of times.
