I think it's racist to keep casting only white actors for these roles. I'm not sure if the story can incorporate racism, since racism usually exists but is just hidden or sugar-coated. Who says everyone in this fictional world has to be white, especially since the audience isn't entirely white? The real world, or fantasy worlds, aren't exclusively white, and British people aren't always white. Historically, Black people have always been part of the entire country.

I would never want to follow Alan Rickman for starters. Making the character of Snape black is going to introduce a racism angle that these storytellers are 100% going to screw up. They either ignore it - which is bad. Or address it - which will be entirely unsupported by the original story. To a lesser degree they are going to have this issue with Hermoine as well. Watching kids sling “mud blood” at the only brown kid in the trio. 🫠

Paapa Essiedu is a great actor but this is the wrong role. Get him in another - Remus, Kingsley, etc - because he's talented but he doesn't match the physical description for Snape in the slightest.
