@Quasilocal Making an inaccurate statement in lecture that the students are supposed to catch is well-accepted.
I'm trying to decide whether the difference in stakes here outweighs the fact that students had to go looking for this set of what turned out to be inaccurate statements.

@Quasilocal To the students affected, I would say "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" bc by using the cheat notes they consented to being burned by a classmate who was clueless or doing curve manipulation, and this is the same effect.
More abstractly...yeah, it's thornier than that.
