Today, we completed the installation of a 5,000 L tank at the Muthoni Nyanjiru Park in Mathare. This will enable the community to nurture the trees planted here, and also provide water for domestic use.

The Legal Empowerment Hub team had a tete a tete with Justice Mohochi of the Nakuru Law Courts. Our discussion revolved around building of public interest litigation and how Kenyans can make use of the Prevention Against Torture Act Against Acts of Police and State Brutality.

As MSJC, we condole with the families & friends of those who have lost their lives in the latest floods. Time and again, we have been shown how climate change disproportionately affects the poor. The gvt must step up & provide proper drainage in Nairobi, & cushion it's citizens.

On Friday, the Grassroots Women Movement held their 2nd Grassroots Assembly on the state of the nation in Dandora. The movement is concerned by the increasing cases of GBV & femicides, especially in domestic spaces. We echo their voices ask the state to take decisive action.

The grabbing of Karura Forest for NYS is just but a cover story to grab forest land. Instances where the forest has been grabbed. -1960s, UN offices in Gigiri -1996, Moi allocated 1200 acres to his cronies -1998, "private developers" 560 hectares -1990s, Minister Kamotho sliced parcel of the forest -2016, Ibis hotel 25 acres -2024, Kiambu road expansion 50 acres -2025, private developers building structures inside forest, tarmacking of the roads -2026, NYS allocated land forest These are just the ones I could find. KARURA FOREST must be listed as PROTECTED area henceforth and should remain UNTOUCHED!

Yesterday, we had a tree planting in Mathare with the community and our kids. This comes at the sideline of the recent deforestation that is happening in Karura. We condemn these actions and resist in totality. There is no justification for erecting barracks in Karura.

Karura Forest is a public asset that must be protected through transparency, legality and public participation. We oppose the ongoing barracks development and call on @KeForestService to immediately halt the works and subject the project to full public scrutiny. #SaveKarura
