Musings from the field: #Frost damage on leaf 4 evident on the odd plant. #Aphid numbers on the up and fairly easily spotted. First signs of #yellowrust in the Zyatt. And upright nature of leaf emergence showing how easy #septoria can spread with direct contact. T1 applied today.

@SamHugill2 @SammyersAg To echo Sam's comment here's an example from last year. The stressed brome was carrying lots of mildew and so was the adjacent wheat crop.

@SammyersAg Hi Sam, I’m assuming your referring to the reddish purpling leaves? If so this is Brome and not your Barley crop! The white lesions on those leaves are Mildew and could possibly be harbouring in your commercial crop too. Feel free to message me if you need any more info 👍🏼

Trying twitter before asking the agronomist, anybody any idea what could be causing this with our winter barley? I’m thinking lack of nitrogen

From well tillered over wintered #ryegrass to fresh spring germinators it’s easy to see why it can be such a problematic grass weed. #luximo keeping plots impressively clean vs UT in our #Cheshire trial site. @BASFcropUK

Normal service has resumed rain wise down at our Rawcliffe Bridge #Realresults farm. Unsuprisingly KWS Extase the most forward of the varieties but only 30-40% leaf 4 emerged in this crop drilled Mid September. @BASFcropUK

@tjcsimpson I think the junction is where the seed used to be, so seminal roots below and nice chunky nodal/crown ones you can see at the top.

With half the average rainfall in April and June + hot windy days, drought stress very evident down at our #Realresultsfarm at Rawcliffe bridge . Benefits above disease control exhibited in quite a few varieties. UT vs #Revystar T1/T2. @BASFcropUK some coping better than others.

Can anyone help with the identification of these tiny chaps? Seen in our garden in SW Germany. For size comparison they are on one seed head of an allium . #biodiversity #insects
