Spires 5-Aside Opens Registration For Season 3, As Qualifiers Begins In April The Divisional Qualifiers for the 2026 edition of the Spires 5-Aside Naija Street Soccer Tournament will get on the way in April across the five divisions in Lagos state according to the organizers. At a media briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, the road map for the new season was unveiled with significant expansion in players' empowerment beyond the pitch. To compete at this year’s event, the teams who must be affiliated to the Lagos State Football Association through their respective Divisional Football Association (DFA's) are to register for the tournament via official website wwwspires5aside.ng with effect from Wednesday 18th February. The age restrictions for players have been lifted to expand the scope of participants beyond the ages of 19 years and above. The Tech-Meet-Sports initiative, which was introduced in 2025, will be sustained with further collaboration with Tech professionals to train the players on modern skills outside their football career. They include artificial intelligence, machine learning, Coding, Graphics designs, amongst others. The initiator of the event, Dr. Bankole Alibay, who gave his remarks virtual from the United States, said they hope to build on the successes of the previous editions as they continue to improve on the standard of the tournament. " We excited at the prospect of every editions of the tournament, you can be rest assured that season 3 will surpass what we have done in the past in all ramifications." The governance and environmental expert further called on brands and corporate organizations to throw their weight behind the event, which has been self funded since its inception. Lagos Island based club White Tigers pocketed the sum of N5 million as Champions of the 2025 edition of the tournament.

Spires 5-Aside Kicks-off Season 3 Activities In Lagos Oganizers of the annual Spires 5-Aside Naija Street Soccer Tournament have commenced a list of activities leading to this year’s event in Lagos. The first on a lineup of events is a media briefing on Tuesday, February 17th, at Spires Media headquarters in Victoria Island. The event is aimed at unveiling the road map for this year’s tournament. There will also be a stakeholders conference and workshop before the qualifiers kicks-off across the five divisions in Lagos in the second quarter of the year. According to the initiator of the widely followed football championship Dr. Bankole Allibay, daid this year’s tournament, will embrace significant changes to improve the quality of competition. In his words: We are not only building on the successes of the last edition, but raising the standards in certain areas to improve the whole structure. " "Our first media briefing is aimed at informing the public of some of these changes and adjustments before the teams registration gets on the way in March," Allibay added. Lagos Island-based club White Tigers emerged champions of the 2025 edition of the tournament The Coach Emmanuel Olom tutored side defeated Papa SA football club 4-0 in the final played at the Stables Sports Center in Surulere to retain the crown they first won in 2024.
