@ArgyleLife1886 I would have kept him as a reliable backup goalie.

Farewell, Luca Ashby-Hammond.
The 'keeper made 2⃣4⃣ appearances for the club.
What did you make of his time at Home Park? 🤔

@dylanwiliam @MrLandesman @MrARobbins Hi, in your opinion, is that the correct thing for teachers to do?
English

@MrLandesman @MrARobbins In one of our formative assessment projects, teachers told us they had to recalibrate how much they could expect to cover in a lesson, because when they discovered how many students hadn't understood something, they felt obliged to do something about it...
English

How many teachers avoid checking for understanding because they are afraid to confront misunderstandings? @MrARobbins

@johncosgrove405 We were bouncing for about 15 minutes as we were in the playoffs, but hey ho, next season.

"Teachers need Protected Time for Marking - And English Teachers need more than PE or Maths!"
Rae argues in her thought for the day that it's time for Teachers to be given extra time for marking during the school day, by subject area. What do you think? 👇

I cannot imagine that we would have stayed in the championship if we had made it up, there is too much improvement needed. A few improvements to the squad and take this moment into next season and we will go up!! #pafc

@GregorSamsa8 @FixingEducation I think that I missed the remarkably easy part, when was that?
English

Two things can be true... a tangled web and all that. Teaching is sometimes a remarkably easy job, with perks offered by no other profession.
Also, teaching is experiencing demographic and technologic changes unparalleled in history, beset by administrative bloat and government oversight, undergoing a full on hostile corporate takeover of curriculum, and dealing with a largely self inflicted crisis of public trust.
English

FYI to new readers, esp those coming thru on the heels of some recent articles. If you read Teach Like a Champion, please be sure to read the 3.0 version even if you're a new to the books. Each new version is intended to replace the older versions, which might not be clear at first. That said if you're a coach you'll probably want to start with The Coach's Guide to Teaching. Cheers!

@ArgyleMemes Awesome pens, great minds think alike as I had one with Mr yesterday.

I see Clev's weapon of choice is a Bic 4-Color Ballpoint Retractable Pen.
A true connoisseur. 🧐 #Pafc

"The injury Joe [Ralls] suffered was on the borderline of surgery. We've come to the conclusion that Joe will go for surgery. He's probably played his last game of the season." - TC
Back Stronger, Joe 💪🏼
Should we be looking to tie him down for next season now? 🤔

Reading education blogs changed my practice, so I always want to try take the opportunity to share the love.
Here are a few free blogs I've read recently that I thought were super, please share if you can!
I work at a school that doesn't have merit points or rewards or anything like that, so this piece by @msrebeccabirch on intrinsic motivation really appealed to me: rebeccabirch.substack.com/p/on-chasing-t…
We are in the midst of an SEND crisis, and part of the problem is outlined by @head_teach: that some schools have astonishingly higher numbers of students with SEND than others: matthewevanseducation.substack.com/p/magnetic-sch…
@joel120193 is smashing out hit after hit on his blog, and this piece on the sheer amount of things teachers have to do resonated: joel120193.substack.com/p/the-60-minut…
@mpershan wrote a typically scholarly, wide-ranging and sophisticated piece on implicit vs explicit learning, the memorisation of maths facts and much more. pershmail.substack.com/p/understandin…
Next up are two posts on AI:
@alex_crossman has written an excellent piece on the risks of AI to education. Our job is to get students' thinking hard, and AI's job is to get people thinking less hard. These aren't compatible, and we need to pull the brakes hard. powerfulknowledge.substack.com/p/its-time-to-…
Whilst not strictly about education, Gary Marcus's entry here about the security risks of OpenClaw and other weird things is vital if we are to take internet and AI security seriously. garymarcus.substack.com/p/openclaw-aka…
Of course, I've been blogging too, and you can check out my entries here: carouselteachlearnlead.substack.com
As stated at the outset, please share if you can!
