Entering that time of the market when 1 yr & 2 yr returns look good, but the 18m period hasn’t delivered much. So don’t just look at absolute returns (1 yr or 2 yr or any period) and insist on looking at rolling returns too! Check @ionicwealth app to see comparison for your funds

How H-1B Visa Impact could be “The Brain Drain in the US is Brain Gain for India” Short-term margin dent. Bigger picture: India’s 70% share of H-1Bs + falling dependence = brain drain → brain gain. How this “shock” could be a tailwind for Indian IT ⬇️ A 🧵 #IonicInsight

And the final thought on how an investor should think about 2-5% of their portfolio in SIFs and grow it to 50% over time as the category matures. Here is hoping for a great start to this very promising journey..

As always, loved the pointed view of how a Long Short strategy is in the DNA of Quant as a house and how they have benefitted from market volatility over last 2 decades.

We don’t have enough talent in this category but there is hope that there will be enough professionals in this space in next 5 years! That’s what I heard Sandeep Tandon say in the webinar today.

Some highlights: 1. Broadening of the base: From investing into only the top 100 companies in 2001 to investing across 80% of Nifty 500 today, FIIs are positioned across more companies. 2. Visible shift in flows from Large caps to SMIDs: FII allocation to Large caps stood at decadal lows in Dec-24, with signs of reversal in 2025. 3. High sensitivity to USD/ INR movement. With slowing Rupee depreciation, the currency favours an increase in FII allocation. 4. From FII reliance towards DII resilience: DIIs have contributed over ₹15.25 lakh crore of cash market inflows in this decade.

Ionic Wealth May 2025 Chartbook: Why will FIIs make a comeback to India! FII exposure to India is at multi-year lows. The FII flows into India depends on a trifecta of three factors: Growth, Currency movement and Valuations. With US Dollar index softening by ~8% from recent peak and India's GDP growth showing signs of uptick (Q4 FY2024-25 coming in strong at 7.4%), we believe we are nearing a change in direction of foreign inflows into India. In short, FIIs are under-invested. They currently hold ~18% of Indian equities, down from 21.6% in March 2020 and well below the average of 30% for Emerging markets (ex-China). Read more on sectoral shifts, FII ownership across companies and more details in our #IonicChartbook. Link to the report: linkedin.com/feed/update/ur…

We checked in our Goa resort at 9 am! (the first image) This was at the Postcard Hotels (Netravali and Saligao). Lovely resorts with a unique concept: Anytime check-in/ check-out; anytime breakfast. Good hospitality too! Started by ex-President of Oberoi Hotels @KapilChopra72
