In my seminar on social movements we watched "The Story of the Lucas Aerospace Shop Stewards" on @youtube. Good discussion on structure, agency and meaning. Had the Labour government nationalised the plant under workers control, outcomes could have been very different.

Logistics, health, agriculture and climate change which will fund 8 experiments and open transformative pathways of change. An exciting programme that will hopefully provide lessons for transformative innovation policy in the region and the global south .

I'm delighted announce that today from March 1st 2024 we formally begin a 3 year collaboration between @SPRU, @TIPConsortium and @hublayctip with @senacyt of Panama to develop on implementation of transformative innovation policy. We begin with 4 transformative missions.

Next week I travel to Puerto Maldonado at the invitation of @Wyss_for_Nature to discuss transformative strategies to end the lock-in to deforestation and new approaches to land use. A tough challenge. Contributions welcome.

I submitted my PhD thesis! 4 years and 3 months of work condensed into 152 pages. With a pandemic in between, I managed to reach this point, but certainly I didn’t make it alone. I thank everyone who has shaped and contributed to this milestone. We were together in this one 🙌🏼

@PJohnstone1 Nice. On a related note, I also miss the "excitement" of referee mistakes and their impact on games. The sense you cannot control everything is also exciting.

Social media logics have actually destroyed excitement because if every announcement is exciting then nothing is actually exciting anymore. Surely excitement must be based on scarcity but the zero-marginal cost abundance of 'exciting things' renders everything...unexciting.
