It has been a big transition fitting so much in to a limited amount of time.

The implementation of the stations has been challenging. I find that it is difficult to fit all of the components in to the time block.

@MatoacaMath Katelyn you have made it easier by guiding us through the process. You have offered great tools and always have something encouraging to say.

A2: Around our school I hear much more math talk, more Sts sharing their thinking, new number sense routines used, and many engaged sts. I commend this group of teachers for taking risks and shifting mindsets! #MAESmath

Q2 The students are becoming more familiar with the routine .They are gradually learning to transition from one block to another. They are able to work better independently. #MAESmath

It allows the teacher to observe the different thought processes the students are using. You can individualize components to meet individual needs.

Q7- The student reflection is important because they are sharing their thinking. It can be rushed because we are usually trying to transition to reading. I find the length of our math block to be a challenge. #maesmath

Q5- Guided math helps you focus on individual needs. I do use it sometimes for my students who work slower to check their understanding.It is a challenge to keep everyone on task in centers while doing guided math. #maesmath

A4- I started with just a few activities. It takes a lot of time introducing the activities so they are comfortable working independently. I need to work on transition time. #maesmath

My students love to do two place addition. I really want to try the WHICH ONE DOESN'T BELONG. Some days it is a challenge to fit it all in. #maesmath

@APMatoacaES The teacher leads the focus lesson. During the guided lesson students are working in small groups and the teacher is checking for understanding.

Q-4 when should a focus less and be guided math group and who should be doing the majority of the talking? #MAESmath

@APMatoacaES The model is similar to our math block. We start with a number talk or spiral review. We follow that with a whole group lesson. The last segment is used for remediation for individuals. The rest of the rest of the students are involved in games and activities

@APMatoacaES A naked task is usually solved by using an algorithm. a good task would have students explore solutions without much guidance from the teacher.

@APMatoacaES It breaks the math block down to several components. It starts off with a new talk. The next part has students working on a math task. The teacher stands back and lets the students do the talking.
