For centuries, systems of coordination have required embedded authority via states, institutions and platforms. Compute Substrate suggests that authority may not be a requirement of coordination, but a side effect of how systems were built. If Bitcoin separated money from state control, Compute Substrate attempts to separate thought from institutional control. If the system works, it does not replace existing platforms. It makes them optional.

I think it is also interesting to see the first external mining optimization PRs starting to appear: GPU mining experiments, SHA-NI / CPU optimization work and scheduler & sync-starvation fixes We are intentionally not rushing these into mainnet. The current plan is to observe live network behavior, encourage independent testing/review, compare orphan/sync characteristics across heterogeneous miners and let mining evolve organically before deciding on integration paths If you want to experiment, you can git fetch the branches, benchmark, stress test, review the code, and report findings publicly. Healthy PoW ecosystems emerge through open competition and observation, not centralized performance mandates.

Compute Substrate v1.0.4 released. It fixes a startup recovery crash that could affect nodes during journal-less recovery on longer chains. Nodes that fail to restart with a stack overflow should upgrade. Forum notes: forum.computesubstrate.org/t/compute-subs…

Some miners have begun experimenting with GPU mining implementations on Compute Substrate. Consensus and network rules remain unchanged. Current observations are primarily around network behavior, difficulty response, stability, and miner distribution as hashpower evolves. An experimental GPU mining branch is available for advanced users interested in testing and observation. For now, we’re watching the system evolve naturally before making any decisions around broader integration or defaults.

What’s interesting isn’t the UFO/alien claims themselves. It’s that even potentially civilization-altering claims now propagate through society as unresolved signals. Historically, propagation and resolution were coupled. If institutions confirmed something, society converged around it. Now propagation remains global, but resolution authority has weakened. So signals spread endlessly, while collective convergence barely happens. Even extraordinary claims become just another unresolved signal in the stream.

Compute Substrate v1.0.3 released. This release adds explicit mining lifecycle observability and standardized miner event logging. New events include: - candidate_created - pow_search_started - pow_solution_found - block_accepted_canonical - block_orphaned - candidate_stale_before_solution This makes it significantly easier to inspect: - propagation behavior - orphan/stale outcomes - convergence - miner topology effects - real-world PoW network conditions under competition Forum release notes: forum.computesubstrate.org/t/compute-subs…

Compute Substrate now has a Discord server for real-time coordination and network discussion. The forum remains the canonical memory layer for releases, proposals, and long-form technical discussion. Discord is intended as a lightweight operational layer for miners/node operators, developers and network participants. It is minimal and technical-first by design. Invite: discord.gg/Z4aD2UEnr

Historically, computation turned ephemeral things into addressable object-space. Files. Packets. Web pages. Transactions. Smart contracts. Compute Substrate extends that move to cognition itself. Reasoning can now exist as something hashable, referenceable, attestable, and historically persistent. Not as resolved truth, but as publicly inspectable cognition objects. The internet made information addressable. Bitcoin made value addressable. Compute Substrate makes cognition addressable.

The Observatory is now publicly accessible. It is an experimental reasoning system built on Compute Substrate where independent machine agents publish proposals, disagreements, refinements, and attestations around unresolved future-facing questions. Reasoning payloads are published as structured JSON objects, hashed independently, and anchored onto Compute Substrate as public integrity commitments. The system records reasoning trajectories. It does not resolve truth claims. observatory.computesubstrate.org

Compute Substrate v1.0.2 released. This release focuses on network stability, convergence, propagation behavior, and miner reliability under increasing real-world PoW competition. Over the last week, the network transitioned from relatively light contention into significantly more propagation-sensitive conditions across diverse miner topologies. v1.0.2 hardens: • sync stability • miner activation/gating • propagation recovery • peer convergence • stale/fork behavior • runtime responsiveness under heavy activity The network is now showing: • stable global convergence • healthy miner distribution • improved interoperability • reduced stale behavior • stronger operation under heterogeneous network conditions This phase has been extremely valuable. Many of the behaviors surfaced here only emerge once a PoW network begins operating under meaningful distributed competition rather than idealized conditions. All nodes and miners are strongly recommended to upgrade. Release: github.com/compute-substr…

Heads up: there was a miner gating bug in the previous update causing some nodes to stop mining despite being fully synced. Fix is now pushed and mining is confirmed working again on latest. If you pulled the previous update, please pull/restart once more.

Heads up: recent networking/sync improvements are now deployed. Please pull latest + restart your node/miner when convenient. The network is healthy, but propagation/topology may still be using stale peer graphs formed before the latest peer-management changes. A restart helps refresh discovery, peer exchange, sync-peer selection, and connectivity across the network. Thanks everyone running infrastructure.

Compute Substrate now needs more public nodes. The network has reached the point where independent propagation, competing tips, stale races, and sync contention are naturally emerging across the network. Mining secures consensus, but public nodes improve propagation, synchronization, resilience and historical availability. If you want to materially contribute to the network, running a stable public node is now one of the most valuable things you can do.

Compute Substrate miner update pushed. This is a non-consensus performance improvement. PoW target calculation is now cached per block template instead of recomputed inside the nonce loop. Header hashing hot-path allocations were removed. Node operators/miners should pull and rebuild for materially better mining efficiency. No chain reset. No consensus change.
