@JJ_McCullough It’s not “anti-American” to acknowledge the reality of the incredibly hostile rhetoric coming from the US President

Carney is our most American PM in many ways— US educated, lived and worked there for many years (I assume he must have a green card?). I feel like he’s now trying to mitigate this political liability by being very outwardly anti-American. His statement yesterday was shocking.

@atrupar Canada sells oil to the US at 15-20% below market value and the dairy tariffs only apply above a quota that is rarely met

The only people talking about Canada being annexed or being the 51st state are Canadians. In all my interactions with Americans, and I've just returned from DC, they laugh it off if it even comes up in a conversation. We simply don't register on their radar. So boo all you want at their national anthem because all it does is builds ill will with our most important neighbour.
Blargeaux@blargeauxite

@rupasubramanya The Americans who appear to support it are not serious people. But again, if Canada doesn't want it, it will never happen. I mean who wants a bunch of pissed off people joining their country? That would not be good.

I ran into one of the Buffalo Sabres in the elevator at the Prague hotel. They were in town to play the New Jersey Devils. He invited me to the game but I was performing that night.

I'm standing near the soundboard at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, for the first of Neil Young's two "comeback" shows here. All this hi-tech equipment and it's all going through this thing made by Ronco in 1977.

@davehodge20 Dunking is hard to do and elevated the skill level of the game. Greig’s shenanigans? Not so much.

I’d ask what happened, in the way of a physical attack, to the very first basketball player who sealed a victory with a resounding slam dunk, but I know the answer: Hockey is different.

@LOWaterkeeper @Waterkeeper But nuclear has enabled us to eliminate coal in Ontario and reduce reliance on natural gas resulting in massive reduction in CO2 emissions and smog, provides power regardless of weather, uses vastly less land and materials than wind and solar and the waste is managed safely

@dmrider A bizarre attack on a person who was committed to abolishing slavery as far back as 1777 when he defended escaped slave Joseph Knight in case that made it illegal to own slaves in Scotland. Also played a part in Canada’s first anti-slavery act in 1793

@TorontoStar Thank goodness they're not renaming the street but they still have Dundas all wrong. He was a staunch abolitionist who was instrumental in ending slavery in the British empire. He assented to Simcoe's Act to Limit Slavery in Upper Canada, 1793, following the Chloe Cooley incident

A plan to rename all of Dundas Street appears to be off the table, replaced with a proposal to rename Yonge-Dundas Square and two subway stations. trib.al/bZ0l2n9

A key thing that should always be remembered is that the CBC is not popular. So when supporters are like “but what about their local broadcasts to rural communities!” or whatever, I think the onus should be proving these services are actually USED, not just theoretically useful.
