Yeah but no but yeah but like this Man City thing with the Premier League innit, they sorted out them sponsorship rules yeah, so now they can do massive deals with Etihad without all the fair value bollocks, right? And for Newcastle, owned by them Saudis, it means they can finally ink huge sponsorships with like Saudi airlines or whatever without the league saying no but yeah but it's not fair market innit? So more dosh for signings, better team, yeah but no but shut up I know what I'm on about!

🔴⚪️ Uli Hoeneß on Nick Woltemade's move to Newcastle this summer:
"What Newcastle are doing has nothing to do with football. It's like Monopoly these days"
(Sport1 Dopa via @iMiaSanMia)

English

@GGFN_ @iMiaSanMia Please explain Uli what exactly you think Newcastle are doing that “has nothing to do with football”? Having to wait three summer windows to sign someone because of PSR and then we’re only spending the money we’ve made is offending you Herr Hoeness? Do your research.
English

@AntonioMango4 Yet another one who’s taken the narrative that we’d spend like crazy from 4 years ago, has done zero research and then just runs his mouth because it suits his agenda. We’re rattling Bayern Munich and it’s glorious.
English

Newcastle have not signed anyone for 3 windows before the last, forced to sell Elliot Anderson & Yankuba Minteh but yeah 👍.
Can taste his bitterness from here.

Slovakia and Napoli legend Marek Hamšík on whom he thinks is Germany's best player: "I'm certainly not the only one who says that Jamal Musiala is currently Germany's biggest star. Of course, we don't wish anything bad on anyone, especially not such a serious injury, but it's good for us that he won't be playing against us [tonight]. He's an incredible talent - Germany will miss him" [@SPORT1]

We've known for a while that clubs control the narrative, but the actions of Luke Edwards this summer highlight the issues with football journalism. He didn't do his job. He did the dirty work for Newcastle. anfieldwatch.substack.com/p/football-jou…

😮💨 Yoane Wissa’s Deadline Day move to Newcastle was completed with under 30 seconds to spare!
📝 ❌ Wissa had failed to sign one of the forms and it was left to one of his representatives to sprint through Newcastle's training ground to find the striker and get him to hurriedly sign the document with a couple of minutes of the deal sheet extension period left.
☑️ Eventually the £55m signing was ratified at 8.59pm — two hours after the initial 7pm deadline.
🚗 💨 Wissa had driven up to Newcastle from London through the night on Sunday to be in position to undergo a medical and formalise his transfer.
✈️ 🥴 And the travelling doesn't stop now for the striker — he’s now en route to join up with his DR Congo international teammates ahead of their World Cup qualifier away to South Sudan on Friday.
