@DixonDisciple Oh I agree. I’d be surprised if we have the money for another HM center. But it’d be ideal. I’m also a little more intrigued by Bethea than I am Powell, but that’s just me. Injuries held him back last season, but he was a top 10 talent out of HS. I doubt he starts on the bench.

@MattJohnson_27 Totally hear you. And I think in my ideal scenario Mighty is rotating with a proven high major guy. I liked when I was hearing Fru’s name. I just don’t think we have the budget for that at this point.

What a day for Pitt Hoops. Jay Kuntz proving himself quickly. I am encouraged by the team below. Ndongo is a player I’ve always loved. For George to work, I think the 2 needs to be a scorer who can really shoot (A’Lahn Sumler?). Then a shooting wing in the 7 spot. #H2P

@DixonDisciple Don’t get me wrong, I’m optimistic about the team, but the thing that really screwed us was both center options getting injured and forcing cam to play out of position. God forbid another injury happens, I don’t want just one. If not papa, just a big body to rebound and defend.

@MattJohnson_27 Great question/point. I’m thinking when Mighty is out you slide Ndongo there as needed and play Foster at the 4. Given what we have, doubt there’s money for another proven C. But in ideally we add an emergency big. Maybe ask Kante to rethink things for a second straight year??

@AustinRBechtold This is the correct take. He’s gets one more shot. Even if you buy him out, you risk losing his best recruiting class and theres no guarantee you get the coach you want competing with Syracuse, Cinci, K State, Providence, and ASU who can all outspend you for the best candidates.

I’m not surprised that Jeff Capel is back, and I think it’s the right decision. #Pitt has a solid recruiting class coming in next year, the buyout is a lot to handle, there are a few young pieces to build around, plus money of course. If it’s bad again, you move on.

@T3Bracketology It’s incredible what Andy Toole has been able to do with this team. Lost almost the entire roster to P5 schools, rebuilt everything through the portal and has them looking like the most dangerous team in the HL by seasons end. This guy needs a shot at a bigger school.

@PantherLair His development has been the one bright spot of this Pitt team. If Capel is back with that loaded freshman class, he is the one player above all that I am fighting to retain. There are others you could argue but he’s the one priority. He has potential

@Dueycbb As of right now, he’s the one player I’m prioritizing bringing back next year. Maybe Cummings if he could get some consistency. But Roman’s growth as the season progresses has been evident. A summer working on his shot and a chance to play SF where he belongs, he’ll be good.

@ThePoniExpress This sounds like a lose lose for Pitt. If Pitt loses, everyone craps on the ACC and how bad they are. If Pitt wins, everyone says it’s because Penn St doesn’t have their coach or players and it doesn’t count as a real win. I’ll pass.

@DixonDisciple Eh I really just want the version we saw against Bucknell. That team played much better than we have seen in those first 4 games. We won 3 of them but I don’t think we played well in them. Monday night we played well. That team can win games. If they cut down the TOs

If Pitt’s going to turn this thing around, today would be a big step. Let’s hope we get the version of this team we’ve seen in 4 of our 5 games, and not the WVU version.

Injuries to two starting O linemen, star RB struggling with injuries, defense playing last 2-3 games without star LBs, DEs down to 3rd string. An extra week to get healthy might make a difference against ND

@_SwankSinatra_1 @T3Bracketology I don’t disagree. Jamie is a good coach who did a lot with a little. But in terms of the bulleted listed in the original post, it’s a decent fit. The man got them to 11 tourneys in 13 seasons, 7 of those they were a 5 seed or higher, two 1 seeds, but only one elite 8.

Who is the James Franklin of CBB? -good coach -almost always makes the NCAAT -almost always above avg in conference -can’t seem to get further than the Sweet 16 Any ideas?

@HotTakeTub @T3Bracketology Maybe not at TCU but at Pitt he took over the program from Ben Howland who had just helped pitt earn a 2 seed and 3 seed in consecutive seasons. My reference was more to what he had at Pitt than at TCU.

@MattJohnson_27 @T3Bracketology Difference is that nothing has ever really been expected of him at TCU. He has elevated that program to relevance and made clear improvements from where it was whereas Franklin took over an already successful Penn State program.
