Jordan Gibson. Light, elusive, dribbly winger with an aptitude for dinking narrow crosses from the byline. Contrary to prior reputation, I really liked his work ethic at 22/23 Carlisle under Simmo, especially in that hybrid LCM 3-5-2/LF 4-3-3 role that switched when Mellish pushed up from defence. Application a tad more in question again at Doncaster, certainly in League One, which suggests two things: 1) he's a bit of an enigma and needs a particular type of man management to coax the best out of him. 2) League Two is a more suitable level for him than League One in terms of the physical demands. I think if Barnet lose Ryan Glover this summer as expected, Gibson would be someone who could step in and bring similar qualities, even if his dribbling style is a bit more vertical. I could also see him slotting in on the left of a midfield three for Fleetwood, if they lose Mark Helm, and striking up a partnership with Denver Hume. He'd bring some creativity to Cheltenham, who have shunted Bickerstaff out on the left this year and could do with more of a natural option out there. And then there's Calum Agius at Crewe. They're an academy-led club so they need 20-year-olds like him to have that big breakout season. To achieve that, do you give the lad reassurances that he'll be first choice as a way of instilling confidence? Or, do you give him that nudge by signing a recent two-time League Two promotion-winner, and showing him that in order for him to start 33 or more league games again, he'll need to find that next level? There could be a healthy competition angle, if the Alex can afford that kind of luxury. So, I would be pitching him at Barnet, Cheltenham, Fleetwood and Crewe. #BarnetFC | #CTFC | #FTFC | #CreweAlex
