@sdho Any traction on my suggestion for on-street parking in front of the 6621 Penn strip mall? This would be a huge win-win if the property owner is on board with converting that narrow front lot into patio space for their tenants.

Penn Avenue open house is tonight! From 4:30 to 7pm at the Richfield Middle School. The team will be showing detailed concepts for the corridor. Share your views on roundabouts vs. signals, median design, and your preferred bikeway type. See you there!

@SidKhurana3607 How do these stats account for newer housing in old buildings? e.g. renovated warehouses that were not housing in 1939 but are today. Some cities have whole neighborhoods of warehouses built in 1900s that weren't housing until the 2000s (e.g. Minneapolis' North Loop)

@25YearsAgoLive I was a freshman in college and All Your Base was the funniest thing in the world to 18-yr old me. I don't recall the terms "meme" or "viral" being widely used at that time, even among the very-online of that time. Was there an earlier term for that phenomenon?

Harvard sophomores Brian Seeve and Michael Tucker have covered their dormroom walls and ceiling with the words “All your Base are Belong to US,” a phrase from a Japanese video game that was made into an internet music video that is sweeping the country as a “meme.” Youth not only at Harvard, but at high schools and colleges across the United States, are shouting and posting “All your Base are Belong to US.”

@natehoodstp The most annoying trend in urban signage is on new mixed use buildings where the [APARTMENT NAME] sign absolutely dwarfs the signs for the retail spaces. Sorry @seandsweeney for the callout but your projects are guilty of this.

@rhett_carlson Where would you want to see a downtown Minneapolis Apple Store located? I don’t have a specific spot but would say “within two blocks of Whole Foods”

One of nine (9) downtown Apple Stores in the country outside of Manhattan, and only second in the Midwest outside of Chicago. What a win for Detroit in 2025, a modern Hudson's
Dan Gilbert@cavsdan

Welcome to Detroit, @Apple. I have no doubt this will be one of the top-performing Apple Stores in the country. Detroit, you’ve got to check it out… this one’s something special. And how about that custom logo?!

I don't care what @CityMinneapolis says, this street is 1st Avenue. Hawthorne Avenue is a lie, don't fall for it.

After the Strib published the municipal fragmentation article, a reader wrote in with this proposal. I wanted to see it visually. These would be the 3rd and 4th largest cities in the metro. @MaplehoodUnited

@DeRushaJ Broadening the sales tax base is a sound fiscal idea but the rate cut ought to be at least 0.5%, not a piddly 0.075%. In the metro area we’ve been hit with an additional 1-1.5% in the last 2 years.

Cutting the MN sales tax from 6.875% to 6.8% but extending it to legal, investment, banking services - is it a tax cut or not?

the KCK speedway/village west area is no doubt an extremely impressive ecdev success but the asphalt-to-activity ratio here is absurd

@JamesWardenMN Not the main point here, but “only eight MN cities have odd-year elections” caught my eye. Do you know if that is accurate?

CM Ben Goodlund’s fellow council members were just raking him across the coals Tuesday for being a faux fiscal conservative. Not in the story: His past votes would’ve added $1.3 million in additional spending. hometownsource.com/sun_sailor/new…

NEW: @nbcwashington has learned 248 $500 citations have been issued by school bus stop sign cameras in DC since the program started in late April. Only 25 buses have the technology, meaning those buses see lots of violations. These buses mostly carry students with special needs
