Has club sports ruined youth sports in every state, or just Utah? I can’t believe what these kids and parents are put through now…. It’s a travesty.

Also think it's odd, when a parent invests to help their Child be the very best in athletics or dance, ALL PARENTS are "living their dream through their kids", but when a parent pays for their kid to have top education at a Private School they're giving them an advantage.

If you're a club, and you're not ECNL, parents move their kids to new club. Then can you blame a Club for chasing ECNL? If you're a parent, and told your kid has no shot outside of ECNL, can you blame them for hunting an ECNL Club? Same applies in Bball with Shoe circuits.

Follow the money. What's actually driving all of it? Are the clubs driving this? Are ALL PARENTS really guilty of living vicariously through their kids? In soccer, to play D1 they say you need to play ECNL. Whose driving that? Is that really Club and Parents fault?

Always think the takes on these debates are missing critical context. Too much to unpack in a single tweet, but we over simplify it blaming parents for 'living their dreams vicariously' or blaming clubs for 'chasing IG Glory.' And none of those takes move the needle forward.

I texted a coach this morning and asked how the new job was going after about a month. His response was one I’ve heard many times… and lived myself: “Not bad. Some kids pushing back culture wise. Always worried about staff and numbers.” If you go into a program and start making the changes that need to be made, be ready for pushback. That’s normal. My advice to him: Water the good grass. Don’t let the weeds hold you hostage. Too many coaches start looking the other way because they want to keep players and coaches happy. They convince themselves they can slowly change the culture. It doesn’t work that way. Culture doesn’t drift in the right direction. It moves toward the standard you enforce. Stay strong to your principles. The right grass will grow. 🌱🏈 @fastnwide

When the last game really is the last game, it’s emotional. Win or lose, watching seniors play their last game is tough. It’s tough for parents too. HS careers are over. The end of something is the beginning of something else. Cherish this time & look forward to the next chapter!
