The OECD is the first multilateral organization to comprehensively quantify the stagflationary headwinds stemming from the Middle East War.
While the organization sees global growth as remaining "resilient," it has revised its inflation projections upward.
Specifically, “headline inflation in the G20 advanced economies is projected to be 4.0% in 2026, 1.2 percentage points higher than previously expected, before easing to 2.7% in 2027 as energy price pressures fade.”
At the national level, I suspect that the projected U.S. inflation rate of 4.2% for 2026 will attract attention, particularly as the OECD forecasts it to be the highest among G7 nations.
