What was your favourite moment from Round 1 of the County Chanpionship? This was mine — my first ball of the season. It felt like a VERY long wait to see it. It was lovely to have Little Miss Rumble alongside me. A close second was the last 50 balls of the Northants v Lancs match. The perfect end to the long weekend.

It’s a Monday - boo! 👎 But it’s a Bank Holiday Monday - hurrah! 👍 Today, apparently, I will mainly be putting up new shelves and curtain poles. This is a somewhat unforeseen and unsatisfactory development, but I have direct orders from Obergruppenführer Mrs Rumble, which I dare not disobey. At least I have the County Championship to keep me company.

@Kippercricks @WG_RumblePants @TPLCricketClub Happy, if perhaps innocent, days. This was when newspapers such as The Times, Guardian and Telegraph sent reporters to cover every county championship match and writers such as Woodcock, Swanton and Arlott reigned supreme.

@WG_RumblePants @TPLCricketClub It’s unbelievably good WG - having the live streams and ball by ball online commentary is also amazing 😻 as I remember watching games unfold on teletext ! I can remember my friends dad excitedly looking in the Telegraph each morning - for yesterday’s scores back in the day !

Are you enjoying having the County Championship back? There have already been some notable performances and there’s still a lot of cricket to come this round. 5,303 runs scored so far 132 wickets taken Turns out I can do the maths @TPLCricketClub! 😂 But, honestly, it’s just so good having county cricket back and dominating my timeline.

@WG_RumblePants Yes, you’re probably correct. Going back a few years, I recall Alastair Cook retaining his England place when Essex languished in Division Two for a couple of seasons. Graeme Swann was perhaps another but there weren’t too many in that category.

I hope Rob Key is taking notes on this round of Championship matches — you know, given that Baz is in New Zealand and given that we still don’t have a Selector… Div 1 batters who have scored 100s far: Critchley (173) Foakes (128) Mousley (112*) Abell (108) Clark (101) Div 1 bowlers who have taken a 5fer: Robinson (5-42) Pennington (5-65) Also, a certain Sir James Anderson has taken 5-64 in Div 2.

It was SO good being at Lord’s for the start of the County Championship yesterday but that, as they say, was just the beginning! We have another 177 days of the cricket season still ahead of us! The Championship is the foundation of that. I’m going to be following it on the livestreams and BBC commentary today. If you’re going along to a ground, have a great time. If you’ve never been, what are you waiting for?! The oldest, grandest and most gruelling red ball competition is back!

The crowd gathers round the pavilion to acclaim the players after England's victory in the 5th Test at The Oval, August 19th 1953. The win gave Len Hutton (waving to the masses) and his side the series 1-0, regaining the Ashes after 19 years

@Irfanooq I think this was at the Headingley Test in 1988, when Lamb had to leave the crease retired hurt. He and Smith put on a century stand in this innings but West Indies were far too strong for England.

@NoContextCounty Given the context, in this case the first World Cup final in 1975, I would nominate Viv Richards running out three top class Aussie batsmen at lightning speed.
