@cockwomblefree @khalifa_zak @piersmorgan The monarch owns the crown estate but as part of a deal George III struck with the UK government, it can't be sold. There wouldn't be much tax to pay as the majority of the sovereign grant is used to pay for around 3,200 Royal engagements each year and maintenance to the palaces.

@Matthew74705969 @khalifa_zak @piersmorgan You do know the royal family des not own/run the crown estate and the money received is not Tax? The tax payer is a net contributor to the Royal family and last year actually contributed 112 million a rise year on year.

@micawbergray @adflaz @khalifa_zak @piersmorgan No, the UK government. The crown estate is managed by an independent organisation and every year the profits are paid to the Treasury. The monarchy is paid 15% of the profits in the form of a Sovereign Grant. The UK taxpayer gets a good deal!

@Cliffo_xo @piersmorgan The monarchy received £86million last year from the UK taxpayer. Do you know how much the monarchy made the taxpayer as a result? £306million so a profit of £220million. By the way, that doesn't even include tourism! The government struck a good deal with George III in 1763!

@adflaz @khalifa_zak @piersmorgan The monarchy cost the UK taxpayer £86million last year. Do you know how much the monarchy made in return? £306million, so a profit of £220million and that's just from the Crown Estate! I think the least we can do is pay for the extra security

It's a shame most of the British public don't understand that

@DarlingM777 @Katykicker Makes him more relatable as far as I'm concerned; he must be absolutely exhausted, so a bit of irritation and petulance is fine by me! God Save the King!

Why did Charles make such a weird gesture for them to remove his pen case, could he not just pass it and say 'could you remove this please?!' Lifetime of servants does that to you I guess.
