@ion_eyes Anathema condemns false teaching, not the eternal fate of persons; God alone judges hearts (Rom 14:4; 2 Tim 2:19).

The major point that turns me off about Orthodoxy is the fact that, when you become Orthodox, it isn't just saying, "this is the liturgy and church worship I prefer. Yours is still good and valuable."
Every year on the Sunday of Orthodoxy, they literally have to chant "anathema!" to anyone who doesn't hold to all the canons and anathemas of the 7 ecumenical councils (including icon and relic veneration), the perpetual virginity of Mary, etc., or who hold to heresies like those condemned in the same councils and western doctrines like the Filioque (i.e., the belief that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and Son, whereas Eastern Orthodoxy dogmatically believes he proceeds from the Father alone).
It is literally saying that any Christian who holds to western doctrines on God or doesn't affirm everything they do about Mary, the Orthodox church being the one holy catholic and apostolic church, etc., are cut off from God and the church.
So as soon as you become Orthodox, you basically need to realize that your friends are all in serious spiritual danger. Apart from some extra normative miracle, their Lutheran, Evangelical, and Catholic friends are on the path to hell for believing a false God and not receiving all the truly valid and saving benefits of the Sacraments.
(I know many Orthodox give vague possibilities about a mystical union with the church apart from the visible worship and Sacraments, etc., but I think the consistent understanding of their truth claims is that you're either visibly in their church and have received their Sacraments or you are on the path to hell)
So while I still think they're Christian, if consistently applying their theology and liturgy, they don't think we are truly Christian.

@MarcKulkin Why not November? Surely ND isn’t afraid of cold weather.

Interesting schedule date.👀

BYU will host Notre Dame in Provo on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026.

@vegasduck702 @bbQfollower @USCJ32 @Coach_Henny No, stating facts isn’t the issue. This thread states why Lanning has latitude to promote coordinators internally, and why Lincoln doesn’t.
You went 13–2—let’s not pretend that’s more than a good season. It didn’t end the way either of us wanted.
English

Its simple what needs to happen Dont over think this . @Coach_Henny Is the current Co-DC and coach Doug Belk also has Experience

@vegasduck702 @bbQfollower @USCJ32 @Coach_Henny Easy there duck. Im giving Oregon and Lanning some positivity. Let’s not take that too far.
English

@CeoFranky @USCJ32 @Coach_Henny It isn’t clear what you are questioning.
Lanning can promote from within and that’s fine because he isn’t on a hot seat. His defenses have been strong enough.
Lincoln is absolutely on a hot seat. You believe he survives a 7-5 season in year 5, with most of the team returning?
English

@MatthewJDowling @USCJ32 @Coach_Henny Earned the ability when he had tosh for 4 seasons?
The way USC is moving Lincoln isn’t on the hot seat.
English

@bbQfollower @USCJ32 @Coach_Henny I’m not in the USC athletic department, maybe Lincoln has more leash than I think.
But from a fan’s perspective, it’s time to move. This is Year 5. Like it or not, Cignetti at Indiana and Texas Tech have reset expectations.
I don’t think USC can afford to go 8–4 this year.
English

@MatthewJDowling @USCJ32 @Coach_Henny True. I think Riley should have at least a medium leash if he takes DC steps. If he can make the playoff with this schedule, I’d say that substantial progress and worthy of keeping them on. Doing another head coach/rebuild won’t have sure results imho.
English

@MatthewJDowling @USCJ32 @Coach_Henny Oh, that said, seems Oregon’s defense didn’t exactly set the world on fire in the semifinals did they?
English

@FightOnRusty You’re going to send NE into a tailspin. ✌️

Things are fluid but expecting this to happen as of today ✌🏻

Hearing some rumblings 👀

@USCJ32 The AI analogy doesn’t make sense J. We hired these coaches to be experts at developing & to recruit.
Our coaches are excelling at recruiting but they did not excel at developing.
So they brought in the AI tech, but they haven’t corrected the alogrithm to get correct results.
English

In my personal, humble opinion, I truly believe hiring from within is the best option for this USC football team. The current staff — Shuan Nua , Doug Belk, Travion Reed, Eric Henderson, and the rest of these guys — laid the groundwork, built the foundation, and established the relationships that helped bring in the No. 1 class in the country. Without them, this class doesn’t happen. Recruiting matters, and it’s a huge part of the equation. Click the link for the full video as I break this whole thing down.youtu.be/911P1Dh_LSM?si…
