To any orgs that hire rookies and expect them to perform only to bench them after 1 split. Rookies need 4 things (things that G2 provided their league team) 1. Time - they need time to develop. They need opportunities to make mistakes and learn from them. 2. Good coaching staff - G2 league have THE best coaching staff in esports. No question. 3. Teammates that have the mentally to work with rookies and mentor them. It’s even more impressive when you look at how veteran and ready to win those players are. 4. Support and protection from the external negative sentiments online. Create an insulated bubble. More signal, less noise.

What a day! Yesterday we wrapped up the Esports Coaching Unconference and I was blown away by the engagement that came from every corner of the event! 🤩 70+ registered attendees and sign-ups from 23 different countries. It's amazing how easily esports transcends borders 🗺️

One final huge thank you to my fellow organisers @JBellSportPsych, @KabirBubna & Réka Burján, our discord help Adam & Leo, experts @IsmaPedraza, @b_ramaker, @CoachYip, @EmtestLoL, @GevousLoL, & @justjon_lol, and to everyone who took part, offered support, and spread the word 🫶

Of the many ideas to emerge over the day, 3 questions stood out to me as key for the field going forward: 1️⃣ How do we best deliver coach development in esports? 2️⃣ How do we evaluate coaches and good coaching? 3️⃣ What are we promising participants in esports coaching programmes?
