Maybe all ED staff ought to spend a bit of time in 'civilian' clothes sitting in the ED waiting room. It is miserable being an ED patient at the moment - but there are some low cost things that could be provided that would make it more bearable - free tea? emj.bmj.com/content/early/…

@moribunddr I left a level 1 ED as a senior sister and it cuts both ways. I wouldn't stand it from nursing staff not drs on rotation. It's our permanent place and that needs to be respected, you are visiting and will move in. HOWEVER whilst you are with us it's a bout the team - not 1/2

@moribunddr ‘ I seem to done something that you don’t approve of… could you let me know what that is specifically and I will try my best to improve’. It’s really not about you. And refer them to the website ‘civility saves lives’. Their behaviour is dangerous. Good luck

We spent the day with Kharkiv's incredibly courageous first responders and saw a Russian "double tap" in real time. Watch how they maintain their focus and calm as rockets slam into the building. With incredible team @BrentSwailsCNN @scottycnn @maria_avdv Richie Deakins

@STN_KellyP Three is plenty of evidence that incivility towards one’s colleagues has a negative impact on patient safety. We talk about informed choices in medicine. It’s time clinicians are fully informed about the implications of their actions.

As well as teaching junior staff members to speak up seniors should be taught to listen down. Among other more obvious biases the toxic hierarchy was a contributory factor in the death of George Floyd bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-…

@iamalisonperry The soup, of course, in the thinnest of plastic cups that would a) burn your fingers b) squish if you held it too firmly sending piping hot soup everywhere.

My favourite things about the replies to this tweet are 1. Being reminded of soup from Klik vending machines (always had powdery bits at the bottom) 2. Learning that a post swimming snack was known as a “chittery bite” in parts of Scotland 😍

What was your ultimate post swimming snack when you were a kid? Mine: Nice ‘n’ Spicy Nik Naks (from the leisure centre vending machine)

Cleaned my teeth then realised I hadn’t drunk my freshly brewed coffee yet this morning. I really hope the day picks up because it started with a nightmare.

@ninnyd101 @piersmorgan Covid deaths are high despite unprecedented measures to halt the spread of disease, meaning any comparisons are flawed.

@piersmorgan It takes a special stupid type of reporter not to see the correlation of deaths have been higher last five years then this year, FLU kills, Cov19 kills very few people, In fact 97.9 get over cov19, While people who are old or suffer from lack vitamin d seem to be more susceptible

Covid-deniers are a special kind of stupid, aren't they? In just a few weeks, the virus killed more people in the UK than the total number of civilian casualties here during 6yrs of WW2. But apparently it's 'a hoax' or it's been 'exaggerated', or 'it's not as bad as the flu.'

@piersmorgan What I can’t comprehend is that some elaborate hoax would involve the government and the medical profession to be in cahoots. I think messrs Hunt and Hancock have put that idea to bed.

@corstejo I always tell myself only 10% of the cohort are actually listening to anything I’m saying. Not so scary then.

@Matthewa1975 Thank you, that’s kind! I really feel for all of the lecturing team who’ve had to switch over to remote BBB lectures, it’s so much harder to deliver content with no in-person interaction/back and forth. Chat functions are helpful but not the same!

This evening I learnt that it’s harder to present via webinar than in person (and surprisingly more nerve-wracking)! I spoke about my experiences of presenting to the ED following self harm (mixed to say the least), something I could easily ramble about forever 😅
