The Street Hotel led the community by giving African Americans a place to gather and thrive in their own community. It showed leadership by giving unity and self-reliance in a divided America.

The Street Hotel was important because African American Players were banned from white-only hotels. It shows how segregation denied them from participating in baseball and society.
