After Arsenal edged out a narrow 1-0 win against West Ham United, the emotions in the stadium were anything but simple. Declan Rice, now wearing Arsenal red, found himself on the receiving end of a chorus of boos from a portion of the West Ham faithful who had once sung his name with pride. The scoreline itself carried weight far beyond three points — that single goal not only sealed victory for Mikel Arteta’s side, but also dragged the Hammers deeper into the grim struggle against relegation, a reality no one at the London Stadium wanted to confront. Rice, fully aware of what that result meant for his former club, made a deliberate choice in that moment. While his Arsenal teammates gathered to celebrate, he held back. He didn’t raise his arms, didn’t run toward the away end, didn’t join in the usual post-match release. It wasn’t indifference, and it certainly wasn’t a lack of passion for the badge he now wore. Instead, it was a quiet acknowledgment of the situation he had left behind. He stood there on the pitch, composed and still, making it clear without a single word that he understood the frustration and hurt echoing from the stands. The boos didn’t seem to rattle him. If anything, he appeared almost detached from them, as if he had anticipated that reaction the moment the fixture was set. What mattered more to him was the unspoken message he wanted to send to the club that had shaped him. He remained rooted on the field long enough to show, through his posture and restraint, that he hadn’t forgotten where he came from. He was an Arsenal player in that moment, yes, but he was also handling himself as a professional who respected the history and the people who had backed him when it mattered most. That respect runs deep because of what West Ham did for him at a critical point in his career. Years earlier, after Chelsea let him go as a teenager, it was West Ham United that opened the door. They gave him a pathway back into professional football, trusted him with opportunities in the first team, and watched him grow from a promising academy product into the club captain and England international he eventually became. For Rice, that chapter wasn’t just a stepping stone, it was where he learned what it meant to carry responsibility, to lead, and to feel the weight of a club’s expectations on his shoulders. He’s spoken before about how much that faith meant to him, and it’s clear that appreciation hasn’t faded. So when the final whistle blew and the implications of that 1-0 defeat sank in, he chose dignity over display. He let the result stand for Arsenal, but he refused to rub salt in the wounds of the club that had once given him his chance. It was a small gesture, easy to miss in the chaos of a Premier League afternoon, but it spoke volumes about the kind of person he is when the cameras aren’t demanding a reaction. What a player. What a display of professionalism and empathy under pressure. In an era where football often feels transactional, Declan Rice reminded everyone that loyalty, gratitude, and self-awareness can still coexist with ambition. That’s not just the mark of a top midfielder, that’s the mark of someone who understands the human side of the game.

Remember that 19 Yazidi girls were burned alive in iron cages by ISIS for refusing to convert to Islam and become sex slaves. ISIS paraded them through the streets of Mosul, then burned them in front of hundreds of people. Not a single Muslim or Palestinian activist protested for the Yazidis!

I am Nigerian, and right now my dream is bigger than me. Only about 4.5% of medical literature globally are represented on Black skin. That means millions of Black patients are learning from systems that barely look like them. Medical students study diseases on skin tones that are not their own. Doctors are trained with visual references that often fail Black bodies. That gap has consequences. So I am deciding to build towards changing it. I’m starting with a book. But the larger vision is far beyond that. I want to help build software and medical visualization tools that make Black medical representation impossible to ignore. This is not just about diversity aesthetics, this is about accuracy, education, visibility and better healthcare outcomes. One day, I want a Black child studying medicine anywhere on earth to see themselves fully represented in what they learn. And I believe we can build that future.

They wore the uniform and committed the very crimes they promised to prevent. This is difficult to say, but it needs to be said clearly and openly. Some officers of the Nigeria Police Force have been caught running criminal groups in Rivers State. They abducted people during fake patrols, forced access to victims' bank accounts and cryptocurrency wallets, extorted millions, kidnapped, and committed armed robbery. They did this in uniform, using police vehicles, and targeted the very people they were meant to protect. The Nigeria Police Force, led by IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, will not ignore these actions. Syndicate One, Zone 16, Yenagoa: Inspector Ayanniyi Jelili, Inspector Durojaye Francis, and Inspector Olayemi Titus have been arrested. Three accomplices are still at large and are being actively pursued. Police recovered three Toyota Sienna buses and ₦7,338,800 linked to these crimes. Syndicate Two, Rivers State Command: Inspector John Okoi, Inspector Eyibo Asuquo, Inspector Udo Ndipmong, Inspector Bright Nwachukwu, and Inspector Anele Ikechukwu have been dismissed. Their case has been sent for prosecution. The charges include conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping, extortion, and official corruption. This is a real and necessary internal cleansing. It is painful, but no rank will protect a criminal in this Force. If you have suffered because of bad officers, please report it. Your voice helps ensure accountability.
Nigeria Police Force@PoliceNG

NIGERIA POLICE FORCE INTENSIFIES INTERNAL CLEANSING, DISMISSES CORRUPT OFFICERS, PROSECUTES PERSONNEL INVOLVED IN KIDNAPPING, ROBBERY, EXTORTION The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to discipline, accountability, and institutional reform with the dismissal, arrest, and prosecution of police personnel found involved in cases of conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping, extortion, stealing, and abuse of office in Rivers State and its environs. The Force notes that the actions of the affected officers represent a gross betrayal of the ethics, standards, and professional values of the Nigeria Police Force. The leadership of the Force under the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, remains resolute in its determination to identify, expose, and remove criminal elements from within the institution, irrespective of rank or position. Investigations into one of the cases uncovered a criminal syndicate involving serving police officers attached to Zone 16 Headquarters, Yenagoa, namely Inspector Ayanniyi Jelili, Inspector Durojaye Francis, and Inspector Olayemi Titus, who allegedly engaged in armed robbery, kidnapping, and extortion while operating illegal patrols within Port Harcourt. The officers reportedly abducted victims during unlawful stop-and-search operations, forcefully gained access to their banking and cryptocurrency applications, and extorted millions of naira from them. The investigation led to the arrest of the three officers, while three other accomplices identified as Inspector Awele Ogbogu, Inspector Prosper Aghotor, and Corporal Favour Onwuchekwa are currently at large. Exhibits recovered include three Toyota Sienna buses used for the illegal operations and the sum of ₦7,338,800.00 traced to the criminal activities. Findings further revealed that the suspects operated with firearms and had allegedly carried out similar operations against unsuspecting members of the public within Rivers State. In a separate investigation, the Force uncovered another criminal syndicate involving officers formerly attached to the Department of Operations, Rivers State Command, namely Inspector John Okoi, Inspector Eyibo Asuquo, Inspector Udo Ndipmong, Inspector Bright Nwachukwu, and Inspector Anele Ikechukwu, who engaged in organised acts of kidnapping, extortion, stealing, and official corruption. The dismissed officers were found to have routinely abducted citizens, extorted money through unlawful transfers from victims’ bank and cryptocurrency accounts, and dispossessed them of valuables while operating under the guise of official patrol duties. Consequently, the five implicated officers were subjected to orderly room proceedings and dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force, while the case file has been forwarded for prosecution on charges bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping, extortion, official corruption, and related offences. Members of the public are encouraged to continue reporting cases of police misconduct, abuse of office, extortion, and human rights violations through established complaint channels for prompt investigation and action. The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to a professional, transparent, accountable, and service-driven policing system firmly rooted in the rule of law and the protection of citizens’ rights. In Kruger National Park, South Africa, veteran ranger Sipho Nkosi suffered a heart attack while on solo patrol. His vehicle was found empty, and search teams began looking for him. What the park’s remote trail cameras revealed broke the hearts of everyone who saw the footage. An old bull elephant — known to rangers as “Mnumzane” (Zulu for “Sir”) — had found Sipho’s body. For three full days and nights, the elephant refused to leave. He stood guard, gently touching the ranger with his trunk, chasing away hyenas and jackals that came too close, and even covering parts of the body with branches and leaves. On the third night, the elephant was still there — visibly grieving, swaying slowly beside his fallen friend. Only when the full recovery team arrived with vehicles did Mnumzane finally step back, watching solemnly as they carried Sipho away. Park officials later confirmed that Sipho had rescued this same elephant as a calf years earlier after poachers killed his mother. The elephant had never forgotten. One colleague who viewed the footage whispered: “He didn’t come to say goodbye. He came to make sure no one disrespected his brother.” Mnumzane still visits the exact spot regularly. Rangers now leave fresh water and fruit there in honor of both.

There is no rapture. You no dey go anywhere. Except you go home to be with the Lord before the parousia. There is no rapture. Nobody is disappearing. Sorry.
Brother Possible@BrotherPossible

"...but rapture theology at best is a summary of Christian eschatology that is downright unhelpful." Good submission for the argument, and a good attempt at a pivot. But the second coming was contested all through the conversation. Very much from the video clips, written text and arguments in the space. And rapture theology is not unhelpful. In my little knowledge, the contest is often about the time that the rapture happens, and not whether it will happen. The text and the Bible holds that it will happen. There will be a catching away, we'll be caught up, dead or alive. 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 is not saying anything different from the description in 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17. The words are so literal. Jesus will descend from heaven. The dead shall rise first to meet him. Then the living. 1 Corinthians 15 explains how this happens. Everyone won't sleep, some will be alive, but everyone will be changed. And we'll be caught up in the air, to meet Jesus there, not Him appearing to meet us, and with that ascent, whether we were dead or alive, we'll be with the Lord. Now there are types of the rapture in the old Testament in Enoch and Elijah. They left, bodily into heaven. That's a type for those who are alive. Christ is the first born of the resurrection from the dead, and He is a type for those who will be dead at the time of the rapture. The rapture is not the problem in this discourse. It will happen. The problem in this discourse is that Christ isn't returning because He didn't leave; and it is when we hold on to that error that we render the rapture theology unhelpful. And this is a pattern in all of these argument. Say something different, and try to insert it through something what is actually right. We must all take a side. There's no being here and there. To say the debate is inconsequential because we all accept that somehow we'll see Christ at last albeit through different agreements of the means is to engender unity where separation should be clear. Subtle appeal for ecumenism while we differ sharply on the tenets of the faith always come from the side who can't substantiate their claims from the Bible.
