I promised a Europe vs UK comparison. 👇Here it is 🤯The difference in central density between Paris & London is striking. The other massive stand out is Brussels vs the likes of Manchester/Birmingham.

no millennial trope has broken more brains than "you don't owe anybody anything". an ignoble, selfish narcissism dressed up in therapy-speak about boundaries and self-care in order to give yourself a pass from treating other people with a basic level of care and respect

Brexit has likely done more economic damage than feared. Recent evidence suggests the economic cost of Brexit may be approaching twice the 4% impact assumed by the OBR. The Chancellor has signalled a shift in approach to EU trade, but the effect will depend on how far the govt goes on alignement.

@L__Macfarlane @ThomasHinkel4 I suppose you could say the counter factual may be that we would have had even grater increases in taxpayers if it were not for divergence, but certainly no grounds for arguments that people being driven out

NEW: We often hear that Scotland’s more progressive income tax is “driving people out the country.” New HMRC data shows the opposite. Far more taxpayers are moving to Scotland than leaving it. Let’s look at the data 🧵

This is why I have said the SNP needs to put forward its fresh faces, such as Stephen Flynn, and show how it will refresh its approach to governance. More of the same won’t cut it.
Ipsos Scotland@IpsosScotland

Desire for change in Scotland 🔵64% of the Scottish public agree that Scotland needs a fresh team of leaders, 🔵 and, 46% disagree that the current Scottish Government deserves to be re-elected. But, Scots don’t see a better alternative...

@ashdogx I wasn’t even conscious at the camera or controls being odd or clunky at the time. I would say they add to the experience but perhaps modern eyes would see it differently

Create enough hallucinated legal arguments, flawed engineering calculations and backdoor-ridden code, and the slop vats fill faster than our capacity to tell good work from bad, writes Tim Harford. Read his column on telling good AI from bad: ft.trib.al/j6Io85O

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC. May God bless America.

@SustainableTall Then the land is likely over valued and the initial sale price too high? But it does seem leasehold/ground rent and service charges killing flats

London has built lots of flats…but few people want to buy them Since 2014, some 20,000 flats have been completed in Wandsworth. But nearly 40% of modern flats there have sold at a loss in the last 5 years archive.is/A3rfy

Looks like we are getting a 2021 style, business as usual, SNP manifesto. Bereft of policy imagination and serious reform, full of more free things. I had thought Swinney was more of a serious political thinker and would be able to pivot the party to reset how we govern.
