I can honestly look back on my career now that’s it’s finished and say WOW, WHAT A CAREER 🏆 To look back and look at what I’ve achieved, the trophies I’ve won, it has been a childhood dream… dreams that you can only think of when you are young but to fulfil my dreams, I am forever grateful.

What can I say, it’s the right time for me to hang up my boots and call it a day on my career and what a way to go out, gaining automatic promotion, it was exactly the way I saw it happening and the reason why I signed for the club!

@AndyJEssex I have good friends in the north east who support both Newcastle & Sunderland and I think they’d vouch for me when I say because you’re both one city clubs up there it makes it easier, in Birmingham/midlands, technically we Villa, Blues, WBA, Wolves, Cov & Walsall

@MattyBirddd Yeah fair, although how come Birmingham has that issue whereas the North East doesn’t? Makes sense for places like Bournemouth that haven’t really had a mainstay in the top flight but Birmingham has!

So Villa fans outnumber Blues fans roughly 2:1 among those with a local preference. Other informal polls and fan discussions put the split closer to 55-65% Villa in the city proper. Villa's the bigger local club by most metrics.

@AndyJEssex For a non political view, the teams in the midlands especially haven’t had any bit of success compared to teams in London, Manchester & Liverpool. Teams were only in the championship so the football wasn’t appealing in the city
