Why aren’t any of these at risk hospitals publishing their full accounting so everyone can see where they spend their money ? All but one group of hospitals that I have looked at potentially investing in, spend so much on consultants and fees that it’s no wonder they are at risk Plus, I have NEVER seen an industry that is worse than hospitals when it comes to buying medications and items like implants, screws, other devices. They overpay for everything. And then when you show them how to save money, their “supply chain” employees resist any change. They are so set in their ways, it’s a shock more don’t go out of business. Prove me wrong.

In 1999, after my husband got out of the Army, we started a small dump truck business and we had to buy our own insurance. It was us and 3 kids, one who had asthma and one with spinal bifida occulta- major preexisting conditions. Our monthly cost was $345 for an HMO plan with $10 copays and no deductible. By 2014, the premiums were over $1k with a 30% coinsurance and a $6k deductible and no, we could not keep our doctors. There was nothing “AFFORDABLE” or “CAREing” about it. ObamaCare destroyed healthcare.

This scamming company sent us a random bill for like 3 grand for something that’s supposed to be like $200. It went away after 2 hours on the phone. When I had my first kid in 2024 we got billed like 100 grand throughout the course of a year with random hospital fees and husband had to spend hours on the phone with insurance. It was all false charges, these criminals just charge you what they think you’re willing to pay. Maybe if these practices were illegal and there was actual price transparency people might have more kids
