@lazyorlaylah A Thousand Splendid Suns. That book broke my heart. I cried many times reading it. Had to put it down when I had had enough and picked it up the next hour because I wanted to know if it ever gets better for Mariam.

The people of Den Staat have lived there for generations. But they have to jump through hoops to appease their ancestors. The famous golden rhino of Mapungubwe is important. The king was buried with the totems of the people he ruled: information often left out. #6WC

Sebelebele uses the Deep Hang Out method (Clifford Geertz, 1994). It includes participatory observations, walk-longs, rights workshops, and archival research. She focuses on dignity taking from this community. Wildlife can move through Den Staat but herding is frowned upon. #6WC

@Carolinerathabe When he buys socks for himself, he gives me the brightest pair for me to either wear around the house or to wear when I go to bed in the winter seasons. He goes "here, I know you'd like these" or just rock up with them when I look cold.

I missed day 3 #BlackBotanistsAtWork yesterday. But it's cool since part of my work is in agriculture related. Pic 1. Vegetation classification for a farmer who wanted to know the quality of his hay.. (note the daisy pen).. The rest some of the grass species he had.
