An amazing event organised by a group of level 6 Creative Industries seniors. Everyone that took part in Graphite 2K6 had so much fun and made amazing canvases of art 🎨 well done to all involved. Canvases can be collected from my room on Monday #makeart #expressyourself

@JohannaSurgeon @CatrionaStewart I am not suggesting that school staff don’t need more support. Pupils and staff would always benefit from additional staffing. Why don’t you read the SQA Committee report in full? onlineservices.glasgow.gov.uk/councillorsand…
English

@CatrionaStewart @maureen0207 I assume that’s 4.6% of current Glasgow pupils - including pupils who started with no English who have learned.
So how many new pupils to Glasgow schools in each year have no or very minimal English? Do teaching staff and schools need more support.
English

After quoting Nigel Farage my replies were a binfire of folk who think 30% of Glasgow pupils are new to English - it’s 4.6%.
Pupils with EAL outperform their monolingual peers across attainment measures and are a boon for Glasgow classrooms
Here’s why 👇

English

@JohannaSurgeon @CatrionaStewart An excellent article from @CatrionaStewart - the most recent reports from Education Services show clearly that young people who have EAL perform better in SQA qualifications than their ‘non-EAL’ peers and are less likely to be excluded. This has been the position for many years.
English

It would be interesting to see some hard data around recent outcomes for EAL pupils and impact on non-EAL pupils. You seem to make the argument that it beneficial but if a child can’t speak fluent English in any year apart from nursery that must take significant extra resource. Is this provided?
