Some leftover #Jets thoughts from last night while I kill time at the airport: - I think Mekhi Becton’s return is taking a little bit longer than expected and he seems to be a bit away from being able to play a full game — but also thought he looked solid in pass pro. Mekhi said he’s getting used to his “new normal” where his knee is going to hurt some days. - Izzy Abanikanda wasn’t perfect but his TD run showed why he’s such an intriguing option. He scored that bc of his burst more than anything — they missed that when Breece Hall went down last year. - Joe Tippmann got some valuable snaps considering he hasn’t gotten much work of relevance in training camp. Held up fine I thought. It’s still Connor McGovern’s job, though. - Tony Adams and Jeremy Ruckert not playing is notable in that it seems to confirm what we thought: That both will play actual roles this season, especially Adams. - Will McDonald might be better even quicker than I expected. Aaron Whitecotton is going to have some fun with his DE rotations. - WR Malik Taylor deserves credit for that long Zach Wilson catch too. He’s actually gotten a decent amount of work in training camp, and has a relationship with Rodgers from GB. PS candidate. - P Thomas Morstead is quite good. - Wasn’t a great night for Brandin Echols. Two bad penalties early. - Still need to see more from TE Zack Kuntz if he’s going to push for a roster spot. He’s on the bubble.
