@JordanLDurham What development? He just changes off screen. Also, maybe people wouldn't separate Z from Super if Super was at all consistent character wise but nope. We have Vegeta's character growth gone and Goku isn't even Goku anymore. Super Goku is a danger to himself and others.

This is why giving the series different titles was a horrible idea because now instead appreciating a character’s development we debate which version is better behind an invisible wall.

@JordanLDurham Different titles? Dude, the original work already ended 30 years ago and for a good reason. Toriyama thought the characters had nowhere else to go and it shows. DB stopped being a story a long time ago, it's just a product now. The show must go on because Toei and Bandai need it.

@Cheesymanfredo Also, Marvel and DC have NOTHING to learn from this. Why would you end Batman and Superman forever? What would be gained from that? These characters do have endings within particular narrative cycles. But they're mythical, they don't work like the rest of fiction.

Speaking of Superheroes vs Shonen, the most innovative thing the Invincible comic did was have an ending, I think Marvel and DC should learn from this

@GexraldH @Cheesymanfredo I don't care about the cómics vs manga thing, I love them both and comic book haters are stupid, but I can't believe people say Dragon Ball doesn't have an ending. It's a franchise now but as a story it's done.

@GexraldH @Cheesymanfredo As an author work, Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball did end in 1995. He never wrote anything past Goku flying off with Uub and now he never will. It's a complete work. Kenshin ended, the current manga is a sequel that will eventually end, and will One Piece.

@DB_official_en VS Boo because it was the one that actually defeated an opponent. Plus it has everyone coming together for the big finale and Goku's wish for Boo too reborn as a good guy.

@EmperorBigD @seedofmight This is legitimately one of the greatest moments in DB history. Goku pushed to his absolute limit and beyond. I have many grips with the anime adaptation but this moment was done spectacularly.

@Aarsenyas @Champizard14 To be fair, Vegeta and Nappa arriving on Earth happened because of the Dragon Balls, and the Namek arc entirely revolves around them.

@Champizard14 You miss one huge plot point of the og Dragonball; on why the series called Dragon Ball. It's in the og series the Dragon Balls was the thing that makes the story moves (with Goku and Bulma looking for them) instead an easy escape to solve problems like in the DBZ

@irxson @Aarsenyas @Champizard14 This is something that starts to be a problem after Namek, when both sets of Dragon Balls had already been discovered. Before that, the story was great at keeping tensión and stakes. They had to fight their way to revive their friends. Toriyama didn't want to make a sad story.

@Aarsenyas @Champizard14 This is one of the complaints I have with saying saga onward... dragon balls being able to just revive everyone and anyone was too much deus ex machina and death lost a lot of its narrative weight. They should have left the one unique wish rule.

@_SirAntMan_ @Champizard14 When Goku starts Z he is already pretty accomplished as a martial artit, he had already trained with the god of Earth. That is skipping brutal progression. You just lack the sense of scale because you started with Z.
