@ianpaulwright @AlexandreFenel1 Hayek's imagined a competitive system of private monies to supplant the inflationary state money. He believed that there exists the inclination among market participants to choose the most stable one because it distorts price signals the least. Bitcoin is the complete opposite.

@MaxGruenberg @AlexandreFenel1 I can't comment on Hayek, but, yes, Bitcoin has utterly failed as a medium of exchange (and therefore money).

@ianpaulwright @AlexandreFenel1 Whats funny: Hayek would have despised Bitcoin. The core argument of the denationalization of money is that price stability would drive adoption. Satoshis ponzi approach of rewarding early adopters turned out to be the more successful one - but with it Bitcoin ceases to be money

Exciting that the MEGA has just published the latest tranch of Marx/Engels correspondance, covering the year 1871 (so including the Paris Commune). Includes an incredible 847 letters to and from Marx & Engels, 496 of which are published for the first time

@sorenmau This emphasises much more the passivity of the proletariat receiving the "gare" food (a ready-made blueprint of the future communist society). The cooking process is finished, without them having any influence on it.

@sorenmau Such fantastic doctrines structuring life in every detail is what Marx has been so skeptical about. One aspect that is lost in both translations is the "Gar", which means the cooking process is done (denatured proteins, loosened fibre structure) and the food is ready to consume.

In Capital, Marx talks about writing "recipes (Comtist ones?) for the cook-shops of the future." At least, that's how English-speaking readers know this famous passage. In Reitter's new translation, "Garküche" is rendered as "eateries" rather than "cook-shops." 1/4

who has written something good about the potential uses of digital technologies in a post-capitalist world, from a perspective that is critical of FALC/accelerationism-style tech-optimism yet also does not reject that digital technologies might come in handy under communism?
