Resist the rampant negation of ludic violence in socialist game worlds! As part of the @e_flux special issue Experimental Publics, edited by the wonderful Mi You, my essay delivers heavy blows against the anti-political utopianism of cooperative games. e-flux.com/journal/150/64…

Impressive looking. Had me out of my chair. But my resident Guizhou expert tells me: "Nah. Aint real. The hills dont look like that." And there was I, all set for some festive 新年 maxxing.

🇨🇳 The scale of China’s electricity projects is just on another level. A hillside in rural Guizhou, China covered in solar panels. Thousands of them stretched across mountain ridges to the horizon, transforming bare rock into terawatt-hour electricity.

This will likely turn out to be the most prominent case of AI psychosis: a formerly brilliant person, unwilling to come to terms with reality, conjures mechanical yes-men to keep his fragile worldview from imploding.

@ianpaulwright @AlexandreFenel1 Hayek's imagined a competitive system of private monies to supplant the inflationary state money. He believed that there exists the inclination among market participants to choose the most stable one because it distorts price signals the least. Bitcoin is the complete opposite.

An Austrian economist explains Marx's theory of value. (So embarrassing that Marx missed this knockdown argument!)

@ianpaulwright @AlexandreFenel1 Whats funny: Hayek would have despised Bitcoin. The core argument of the denationalization of money is that price stability would drive adoption. Satoshis ponzi approach of rewarding early adopters turned out to be the more successful one - but with it Bitcoin ceases to be money

@BrunoLeipold @vcwills @mirjammue Wonderful, looking forward to tapping into your expertise regarding principle of representation as well as the imperative mandate! About to wrap up a chapter on the lineage Rousseau-Hegel-Marx, interpreting the economic plan as a materialist modulation of the general will.

@BrunoLeipold This is an interesting one. I thought his replies were lost in the war. So even no recipes in the heat of the revolution.

Hadn't read Jenny Marx's (daughter) letter from France, where she discusses how little sign there is of the Commune in Bordeaux and that Frankel was annoyed at Marx for not replying to his letters

Exciting that the MEGA has just published the latest tranch of Marx/Engels correspondance, covering the year 1871 (so including the Paris Commune). Includes an incredible 847 letters to and from Marx & Engels, 496 of which are published for the first time

@sorenmau This emphasises much more the passivity of the proletariat receiving the "gare" food (a ready-made blueprint of the future communist society). The cooking process is finished, without them having any influence on it.

@sorenmau Such fantastic doctrines structuring life in every detail is what Marx has been so skeptical about. One aspect that is lost in both translations is the "Gar", which means the cooking process is done (denatured proteins, loosened fibre structure) and the food is ready to consume.

In Capital, Marx talks about writing "recipes (Comtist ones?) for the cook-shops of the future." At least, that's how English-speaking readers know this famous passage. In Reitter's new translation, "Garküche" is rendered as "eateries" rather than "cook-shops." 1/4

who has written something good about the potential uses of digital technologies in a post-capitalist world, from a perspective that is critical of FALC/accelerationism-style tech-optimism yet also does not reject that digital technologies might come in handy under communism?

Just finished @BrunoLeipold brilliant Citizen Marx. Not just a must read for the definitive account of Marx’s republican convictions but also for gems like this. The antithesis of “slapdash scholarship” and a pure joy to read. Deutscher Prize Winner 2025. You heard it here first!
