This tragedy has put a shockwave through policing & all those that were close to Sergeant Graham Saville. My heart goes out to them all. We must never underestimate the bravery, sacrifice & dedication our police provide in the line of duty to keep the public safe.

⚖️ Our latest quarterly data release shows that the number of people charged with a rape-flagged offence has increased again. We are charging 72% of the rape-flagged cases that are brought to us by police, and the time taken to charge is continuing to decrease.

⚖️ Connor Chapman, 23, from Birkenhead, has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 48 years for the murder of Elle Edwards on 24 December 2022. Thomas Waring, 20, from Barnston, has also been jailed for nine years for assisting Chapman after the murder.

We are continuing to improve the service we provide to victims. This new offer will help victims of rape and other serious sexual offences to have confidence when attending court and will reiterate the support available to them.
