3rd paper of my dissertation published today in a JML special issue. In the article, we propose a model which integrates psychological and linguistic threads of reading research. It's open access, so head here for more details 👉 doi.org/10.1016/j.jml.…

👁🎥📚 My PhD supervisor @EngbertRalf and I have published a tutorial on Bayesian dynamical modeling of eye movements in reading, featuring a simplified version of the SWIFT model to explain differences in experimental data by model parameter variations. 👉doi.org/10.1016/j.jmp.…

Say I have a 2 X 2 matrix of standard deviations (left pic). I know we can easily refer to the two off-diagonal parts as sigma[1] and sigma[2]. If I want to specifically refer to the off-diagonals with symbols, what would I use (right pic)?

Let me introduce SEAM, an integrated dynamical cognitive model that combines the SWIFT model and the Lewis-Vasishth sentence processing model, merging psychological and linguistic approaches to eye movements in reading in a single process model. arxiv.org/abs/2303.05221 #preprint

I'm trying to add a GitHub repo as a file storage in an @OSFramework project. When I click on Add-ons, it only returns this error. I figured it probably has to do with me having had 2 GitHub accounts linked to OSF but deleting one (or contacting tech support) didn't help. Ideas?

I made the R package hypr that lets you “translate” between contrast matrices and hypotheses. I want to add a function that tells you what hypotheses a fitted model tested (ie, what an estimate/p-value/... refers to). What should I call the new function? #rstats #AcademicChatter

I did an internal talk at @USFFW giving some tips for study tactics that take advantage of the things we know about memory from research, pointed at other teachers but helpful for students too! youtu.be/kAZECekv3k8

I'm fitting a Poisson GLMM with brms and using tidybayes's get_variables() to look at the parameter names. R lists both a b_Intercept AND an Intercept in the output. What does the Intercept stand for here? Which of the two is the population-level intercept? #rstats
