But then you ask: if they went 31-0, why aren’t they a 1 seed then? Every other team in history to have an unbeaten regular season got a 1 seed. So why not this team?

These things are not mutually exclusive.

It's cool they are undefeated.
-It's not impressive based on who they've played and how they've won
-they aren't a quality team.
-they're probably the worst "best" team of all time by a mile.
