HS players: learn how to defend adequately at one/multiple positions. I love players that can hit as much as anyone, but there is one spot in the lineup for players that can’t defend. Lack of defensive ability is one of the biggest barriers to playing time, especially for FR.

Fall 2025: Late, stiff, rushed and out of control He couldn't get on time because he couldn't hold his load long enough to start early. The big focus was to get him into a position to start slow and early and allow him to control his move and allow for adjustability. Spring 2026: Earlier, smoother and more in control. It wasn't an overnight fix and there is still more work to do, but the development in year 1 was exciting and we're looking forward to another jump in year 2.

Sometimes struggles can be our greatest teacher. @Bradyholbrook32 struggled adjusting to college pitching in the fall and the numbers showed it. After the fall, he knew that he needed to make some adjustments and that the only way forward was to put in the work to develop. He bought in, put his head down and worked his tail off to earn some playing time, and then seized his opportunities and didn't look back. Fall 2025: 48 PAs, .091 BA, .167 OBP, .091 SLG, 0 XBH 2026 Season: 181 PAs, .295 BA, .354 OBP, .482 SLG, 8 HRs The transition from high school/junior college to Division I may be seamless for some. For most it comes with some failure and adjustments. The guys that are willing to buy in and work are the guys that usually see the most development.

The best hitters I’ve ever been around weren’t obsessed with mechanics. They were obsessed with getting better. Every swing had a purpose. Every drill had intent. Every day they showed up with a plan. Talent gets you noticed. Deliberate development keeps you in the game.

I love when a recruit shows his personality on a phone call or visit. I’m not trying to recruit every player. I’m trying to find the right players for our program and help players find the right fit for them. When the fit is right, everybody wins. When the fit is wrong, nobody wins.
